Can someone tell me why Republicans in the Senate are so unfavorable towards Haaland?

The Cabinet photo is OK. But's also dumb at the same time. They're all vaccinated - they could have been closer together and/or not wearing masks (just for the photo).

Really, you don't understand why an administration that is desperately trying to make sure that Americans continue to adhere to social distancing procedures wouldn't want to do that? Not to mention the extremely predictable right-wing outrage.

The right is outraged at everything Biden does. Also, the CDC says that vaccinated people can have smaller gatherings without masks.

Of course they are outraged at everything he does, but that doesn't mean he needs to needlessly hand them ammo. The picture is a fitting representation of the times and furthers the administration's pro-social distancing message. Yes, the CDC doesn't deem this to be necessary for a group of vaccinated people, but the public probably would not be thrilled to see a group of "government elites" being able to congregate indoors without masks while they themselves are still being told to not do so, regardless of the nuance.

Fair enough.

That being said, to your point, it certainly will be interested to see exactly when members of the administration start phasing out social distancing practices. Will they wait until the absolute last minute to do so, or will they try to convey a sense of normalcy as soon as it seems like enough people are vaccinated that the general public can start to let up their guard? Not sure.
