Since such a survey has never been conducted in combination with an all-encompassing poll before, I thought it was about time to finally carry it out.

Here's to the BEST STATE survey.

PS: Does anybody notice what I did with Oregon?

BTW: Wouldn't it be awesome if this survey was posted on a geography board? Roll Eyes

Gah, there's something to like about every US state.
I guess I'll go with ND, because I have to pick something. Ugh.

No!!! Not ND! They make so good Kuchen, and they have so beautiful Holstein Friesian cattle there. Cry

Meh. I don't really have a least favourite state. I'll pick New Jersey because it feels like a suburban dump. Never been there though.

That reminds me of a TBBT scene where Sheldon asked Leonard how he could be sure if he's really from New Jersey. Leonard countered why anybody would say they're from that state when they're not. Sheldon responded in return: "That's true."

Florida. Sure, there’s a couple nice beaches and the weather is fine for some of the year, but that can be said about a lot of other states. Florida has no other redeeming qualities and in fact is consistently horrible politically and culturally, so...yeah.

Plus, the Floridians are said to be the worst drivers in the nation. I don't know if that's merely a rumor, though.

Arkansas has also produced some good musicians:

Doesn't hold a candle to Mississippi. No other state can.

I honestly think Elvis is overrated. He is not a bad musician, but nevertheless overrated.

I didn't know he was born in Arkansas. I always linked him to Nashville.

It seems that Oklahoma has had that title in the past, but Louisiana is currently out on top. Incidentally, the Louisiana State Penitentiary, a.k.a. Angola, is known for having particularly cruel conditions; at least in the not too distant past, it was basically a mock plantation, with prisoners working in the sweltering heat in the prison fields all day.

I really, really, really wish Germany had such penitentiaries in combination with hard compulsory labor, too. I know that it's difficult to enforce that claim owing to our past, but it is a matter of common knowledge that our prisons, especially our juvenile detention homes, are supposed to be first class hotels. That's one of the things America does better than Europe.

It absolutely is not one of the things America does better than Europe. Our prisons are a human rights horror story.

The truth probably lies in the middle. The thing West European penitentiaries do better than yours is definitely the social adjustment of their inmates. But multiple offenders laugh at our penal system, especially clansmen from Turkish-Arabian countries, since they are used to jails that are waaay more inhuman than American prisons and moreover to rogue and corrupt correctional staff.

Went back and forth between Alabama and Mississippi several times before very narrowly picking the former.

What is the difference between Mississippi and Alabama, btw? 🤷🏻
If you were to be kidnapped and marooned in either state without a smartphone, how would you even find out where you are being located?

Florida

90% of the brazilians who live there voted for Bolsonaro

Just like the vast majority of Turks living in Germany who regularly vote for Sultan Erdoğan and for the abolition of the remnants of democracy and constitutionality in Turkey back in 2017. 🙄
It seems like right-wing dead losses living abroad tend to vote for dictators in droves. 😒

So, can anybody deliver me an explanation for all the passionate hatred of Florida?
Is it all because of its citizens' support for Trump?
Do think Florida had already been the most-despised U.S. state ten years ago?

Even NALF, the Oregonian football player with the Texan-Coloradan accent, became truly piqued when he learned about his German fans' love for Florida. 😅

It doesn’t seem to be partisan. It is the New Jersey of the South.

I heard both New Jerseyans and Floridians are said to be awful car drivers. 😂

Idaho, followed closely by Utah.

What do you hate so much about your own home state? Is it its Mormon culture?
