Idk. It just seems unrealistic that Buttigieg is that high. It is a straw poll after all.

Maybe his Midwestern ties really help him in Iowa. I still think Buttigieg will cause a major upset on Caucus Day.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttt!!!!!! 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I thought Biden was trailing heavily in the corn kernel poll, but then I scaled that Twitter image up and realized that there's a "2" behind Joe Biden's name, from which it can be inferred that he had already had a jar filled to the brim with corn kernels. On the first Twit pic, there was still merely a "1" behind his name. 😢
Please tell me, there is a "2" behind Mayor Pete's or Senator Warren's name, too... 🥺

Of course they have 2 jars for every candidate ...

Once "Biden 1" is full with kernels, they take this one for counting and replace it with "Biden 2" so people can vote and don't have to be sent away.

I didn't notice the "2" until I scaled the picture up. It was merely sheer coincidence that I discovered that number. My whole hope has been abated. I really thought Buttigieg and Warren were gonna make it. 😰

So, should be pretty indicative of the eventual results (obviously, not all Fair visitors are from Iowa and I'm still not sure if kids can vote or not).

Kids can vote.  Gillibrand's son trolled her by nearly voting his kernel for Warren. Smiley

What is the minimum age for participating in the Iowa caucus?

We will never submit to Biden. I'd rather vote for Hillary than him.

How many electoral votes does Belgium have?

Maybe Lakigigar is a U.S. American citizen living in Belgium.
If he is a registered Democrat, he can as well vote for any candidate in the Democratic primary.

It's a bit of a joke that this thread is on the polling board in the first place, but it's downright hilarious that it has generated well over one hundred responses as of this post.

Moreover, this is the third-most viewed topic of this child board and it's likely to become the second-most one within a few hours.
The reason for that is on the dice: The kernel poll uses a higher sample size than all those "reputable" pollsters.

What kind of natural materials would be used to fill the jars, by the way, if the State Fair poll would be conducted in Idaho or Wisconsin? Grin Or Texas? Cry

Each person can put in a pipette's worth of oil into a jar for the candidate they support.

Oil is a better solution than what I thought. I had pictured to myself how thousands of heads of cattle had to roll just so that the attendees would be able to cast their vote... 😢

4. The participants can see who other people are voting for, and so can be exposed to outside psychological factors(I.E a Herding Effect)

This one isn't really an issue because the exact same thing happens at the caucuses.

But only on the Democratic site, right?
Isn't the Republican caucus merely a secret ballot act, where you have to be present at and where there are no voting boots?

This might be a reason for his gain:

Pete has:

* stopped by the Kernel poll
* campaigned at the Fair yesterday
* unveiled a rural investment plan

BTW: ca. 35K votes have now been cast.

So, only for Biden and Mayor Pete a second jar has been needed?

Trevor Noah provides us with some useful coverage of the the Iowa State Fair .
All the anti-Biden comments underneath the video are just hilarious and so true. 😂

Iteresting fun fact: Four years ago, Stephen Colbert compared both primaries in total to the Hunger Games. This year, Noah compares them to World War D.

Just think, if Jimmy Carter came out of retirement and ran again with Pete as his running mate, they would be Peanut/Butti.

(I'll get my coat...)

And if Biden is to win, I hope he's gonna choose Maria Cantwell as his running mate so that they both would run as a "Biden/Cantwell" ticket.

Of all women, why Cantwell? She’s boring. I mean, I know you want a VP who doesn’t outshine you, but might as well pick someone like Cortez Masto who’s young and exciting enough to potentially succeed you.

I was referring to the pun made by GeorgiaModerate.
"Biden/Cantwell" sounds like "Biden can't [do] well". Roll Eyes

Out-of-state adults of course can, but how many people outside of IA are visiting the state fair?

Probably a negligible number.

Hm, I think I have to disagree with you. I think about a third of those kernels were thrown in by non-Hawkeyes.

Source ?
No Source. I just assume that the candidates have their supporters bused to the fair site.

I know this poll is for fun, but Bernie's numbers are just sad.

It's hard to run as the not-X candidate when there are 20 non-X's.

PS: Let me remark that this topic about this unscientific fun poll is the most-viewed thread on this child board. Tongue

Could someone please list the whole figures because ......

It's the third time in a third state that I was blocked from a governmental website.
Do I have a Russian or Chinese IP or what???
