If Cutler f***s Maine into more sh*tty Republicans like LePage, so help me God.

Lepage Jr, thanks to Terry Hayes, backed by Eliot Cutler, sounds good to me.

Well, this is going to be an interesting primary on the Democratic side. Mayhew is the only Republican so far who has declared that she's running, right? Hopefully other Republicans enter soon.

Once Collins announces she won't run (she's probably seeing she'll lose the primary) others will jump in.

How big of a deal is it that Hayes got Public Financing?  Also, how much support does it seem like she has anyway?

Mills is the centrist right?  So why would they go to Hayes?

So, I haven't been posting much recently because I was at the Maine Democratic Convention.

On the first night, Jared Golden electrified the crowd and announced that he had been endorsed by National Nurses United.

But I wasn't there with Team Golden. I was with Team Sweet.

And she brought the house down tonight.

She went first out of the seven candidates, and she started with a bang. She clearly laid out her platform, took a shot at Janet Mills, and got the crowd on their feet. I had people telling me after the speech that she had become the first preference, and I had many people ask me for signs after she was done speaking.

The entire thing made me cry. I broke down in front of the other staffers, because I'm so fucking proud of what this campaign has accomplished and I'm so fucking proud to be a part of it.

We're going to fucking win. Maybe I'm crazy and overtired and emotional, but I know we can do it. No one expected us to get even this far. We started with nothing, and we had to fight like hell against the other candidates and their special interest money (Adam Cote's average contribution is $200! We can't receive anything higher than $100!) to come even this close.

Check out what we did with our lawn signs in front of the convention hall. Front-page of the state's largest newspaper, and in the background of every single live report from the site:

Jesus christ that's a sh**tload of signs.

I listened to that entire speech, and I think she is hitting all the right notes, and I liked the ending a lot.  She's completely genuine, 100%, and I think the crowd was able to realize that, and my favorite part of the speech is that she didn't spit on Trump voters, she recognized that they just want to be heard and want better lives.

Now she's got an uphill battle, but something tells me she's gonna get past the third round, counter to that poll that was posted here earlier.  She's dedicated to fighting for the betterment of people's lives, that's clear, and if she's got staffers and volunteers like you Maineiac, she's gonna win.

Finally, just check my sig for my opinion on this race now.

So we've got the personal take that Sweet did well, what's the media saying about the convention?

Ok that's rather interesting, though the DSA are obviously biased in favor of Sweet Tongue

I had a question on the DSA actually, cause on the wiki it says that there's a DSA of Southern Maine who backed Sweet, is there a Northern Maine chapter?

How big of an impact will her winning the YD Strawpoll have?

Also, Andrew, is your sig meant to be a parody of Ben Garrison?

Diane Russell under another ethics investigation.

And it’s not good.

Another one?  Something tells me this is why the DSA endorsed Sweet over her, they had to have known Russell had baggage.

Cote and Mills are going after each other in their ads. Mills hitting Cote for being a former Republican and Cote attacking Mills for being endorsed by the NRA three times.

I hope Sweet finds a way to take advantage of this, preferably going positive.

Did you know that Veteran Adam Cote is in fact a Veteran? He's a Veteran. Vote Veteran Adam Cote, Veteran, for Governor. Veteran.

I would certainly hope that you're not suggesting being a veteran is some sort of meaningless resume booster worthy of scorn and derision.  Whatever else he has or hasn't done, Cote risked his life to help defend his country.  Frankly, that post came across as kinda disrespectful of the man's military service although this may have been unintentional on your part.

He's more mocking the constant use of being a Veteran in Cote's ads I think.

I'm so nervous I think I'm going to throw up.

Calm down, go get a drink of water, and breathe.  Just relax man, I think the end of the night will be Sweet

Sweet seems to be in third in these initial results from York County, and Mills winning all 2 votes in a single precinct from Washington County lol

And as Cumberland (and Hancock) come in, Betsy surges to 3rd, let's see what Kennebec has in store.

Edit:  Sweet now in second in Hancock, wow.

And Sweet back in 3rd again with another dump from Cumberland.  Eves and Sweet are just gonna keep going back and forth until York finishes, and as long as Sweet keeps up her performance in Cumberland, and does well in Kennebec, I think she has third.

Moody has overtaken Mason in Franklin county, and now is leading in all 16 counties.

So much for Moody being behind Tongue

Sweet beginning to pull away from Eves as Kennebec, Hancock, and the rest of the state start to come in.  She's in third or second in every county statewide excluding York, Sagadahoc, and Penobscot at the moment.  She's doing very well imo.
