Beyond that, I can think of the main reasons why the US poorly attracts immigrants from already developed nations:

1. The Second Amendment. Private gun ownership, without at the very least government-mandated training, licensing, and registration, is obnoxious and is contrary to every standard of public safety and order.
2. The lack of a universal health care system.
3. Miserable US food quality standards.
4. The lack of a real transit network. Now, this isn't an absolute deal breaker as are the previous three listed items (especially the first), but it does illustrate how the US as a whole grossly misplaces its priorities.

If the GOP had any brains, they would have figured this out long before now. But because rectifying any of these issues will significantly "harm" some GOP constituency -- especially the businesses who demand a large supply and high turnover of manual labor -- they instead prefer to throw nativist tantrums instead.

Are you familiar with the term blood libel at all? If you are not, it is the term that those of the Jewish faith are all collectively responsible for that of the death of Jesus (although I might be confusing this with another term and blood libel might be in how Christians saw that Jews were using the blood of Christians for their 'rituals'). That was entirely from Christianity and supported by that of the Catholic Church (who are Christian whether you deny it or not). There's also the fact that Protestantism (as created by Martin Luther) is also Christian so you can't say he wasn't a 'real Christian'.

It can be argued as most clear as day that the consistent and constant anti-semitism being perpetuated by that of Christianity against the Jewish people led to the Holocaust. Saying it was not makes yourself a fool, especially considering that the Nazis had explicitly used that of the words and actions of both the Catholic Church and Martin Luther along with the general history of anti-semitism in Europe for that of the Holocaust.
