Well you have 2 options

Option A: Get a freeware program (like say GIMP; or a trial version)

Option B:

Can we just have uploadable avatars at this point? I mean, Dave's original intent with them is pretty much dead at this point imo

Honestly I think we can still save Dave's original intent by getting rid of the historical avatars. Everything else that has been uploaded is either an actual country (even Vatican City) or at least it can plausibly pass as one (Palestine, Taiwan)

Just like I opposed the historical avatars I also oppose city avatars (as Scott himself said, there could be hundreds). And I don't think "just the main 3" is a good cutoff, it is very arbitrary.

I am of the opinion we should have only US states, US territories (so if anyone wants to draw a Puerto Rico avatar, feel free), UK/Canadian regions and provinces; and actual countries.

Still this is less bad than the historical ones, at least these ones are actual places.

Cities are actual places. A majority of America lives in or around them.

Whoops I meant it the other way around Tongue (as in cities > Historical stuff; nobody lives in the USSR, at least not anymore)

Made a number of performance-related changes to the forum. Hopefully it will improve forum load times for those brief instances where it seems to seize up for various reasons.

Do you think it will survive election day in the US?

thumbs up for all your great work!

Hopefully! It may be possible to get at least some of the hardware upgraded by then, and the number of optimizations I've made to the software even since the 2018 election is pretty significant.

If I recall correctly, we were in pretty good shape for election night in 2018, so I think we ought to be fine.
If I remember correctly 2018 was the first time in Atlas history where the forum did not crash correct? It certainly ran slower than usual, but there was no proper crash I believe?

(of course I wasn't here for any election befor 2018; nor for any election results in 2018 beyond like 9 or 10 est)

Worst case scenario I suppose we could tell the Mods to set up a pinned thread where posts can't be deleted (pretty sure the Atlasia voting board is already configured like that though I am not sure if said permissions can be applied to a single thread) and for everyone to insert their predictions there, but it is of course not the same at all.
