Caucuses are stupid and should be thrown out. Thank you.

A caucus system that votes for a college town mayor who is polling in single digits nationally is the definition of political insanity.

A caucus system that votes for an ~80 yr old socialist who wants to quadruple the annual federal budget without explaining how he'd pay for it is the definition of political insanity. .... see its not that difficult to make superficial statements

Caucuses are the dumbest thing in electoral politics. They are inefficient, much too long, and not practical for many working people.

Iowa DNC just said they aren’t releasing any results officially yet for “quality control” with an “abundance of caution” and will give “no ETA”... this sounds fishy.

This makes me embarrassed to be a Dem.
You really should've already been embarrassed to be a Dem.

I'd be more embarrassed to be a socialist seeing as you have absolutely no power in the US and have dumbasses like AOC and Bernie leading your movement

Both are infinitely smarter than you because they actually see that there's something wrong with the system.

I recognize the system is flawed. You don't have to agree with quadrupling the annual federal budget to know that

And this argument is why Trump still might be reelected. Sad

I'll still vote and donate and volunteer for Bernie if he's the nominee

Robbie Mook (is that the right name?) who "ran Hillary's 2016 campaign" developed this app, according to a political commentator's live stream that I'm watching right now. SHOCKING if true (/s).

It's probably programmed right into the app for it to crash if any non-establishment Dem (aka Bernie) starts winning. Shameful but unsurprising Democratic Party.

Lol, put your tinfoil hat back on

I truly despise Pete Buttigieg and his breathless platitudes. I hate him and I hate his fanbase of elderly voters who think he's "such a lovely young man".

Wow so bitter. Maybe you shouldn't despise people simply because they are voting for someone who, if nominated, would be the most progressive nominee in modern history

This was completely incompetent decision making by the Iowa Democratic Party. First, they use an unvetted app to report and tally results after spending every waking hour since November 2016 freaking out about election security. Then, they have caucus chairs who do not now how to tally results, and now they have absolutely no backup plan for what happened.

What the actual f**k is wrong with these idiots. Complete embarrassment that totally ruined any momentum the eventual winner will have heading into the rest of the first four contests. If I was Sanders or Buttigieg I would be absolutely livid about what went down tonight.

Iowa definitely deserves to lose it’s place as the first contest in 2024. Completely and utterly shameful and inexcusable that this would happen. Don’t blame it on “well they were just trying to be more transparent.” Their attempts at transparency were not only pathetic, but so pathetic that they actually made people less confident in the accuracy and validity of the results. I have some major questions.

1. Why in God’s name would you elect to use an app to keep track of and report results when the Democratic Party, every major intelligence agency, and experts in the technology industry have all warned us hundreds of times about the dangers of online voting systems?

2. What the f**k is the excuse for the inadequate preparation undertaken before implementing this new system? How in the hell can caucus night come around and you have caucus chairs not only failing to use the app properly, but not even understanding how the caucus system works?! Iowa Democrats have had FOUR YEARS to figure out a workable system and train people to implement it, yet they couldn’t even do that.

3. Why the complete lack of transparency on what the issue is? The fact that terms like “quality control” were being thrown around with no context or explanation is so stupid it’s laughable. How can you tout for months that the system is more transparent, then sh*t the bed so badly when transparency is needed most. Was there no back up plan?

This completely ruined the momentum and enthusiasm for the eventual winner and only served to sow distrust, anger, and apathy with the entire electoral process among Democratic voters. There is absolutely no excuse for screwing up this bad and the Iowa Democratic Party should be humiliated. They deserve every ounce of criticism they are getting and I hope to God they are punished for it in 2024 by losing their privilege of being the first contest. This is pathetic and inexcusable

Keep in mind that President Trump wins everything. He even found a way to win the Democratic Caucuses in Iowa. You can't really blame the Iowan Democrats...

You can blame Democrats when their failure was the entire reason for this. And LOL at the idea that Trump wins everything. He certainly had been unable to win the approval of more than half the country despite a roaring stock market and the opportunity for major legislative achievements which he has bungled by not being able to keep his mouth shut or actually put in the required work.  Healthcare reform? The wall being built after the shutdown? Two major proposals he utterly failed on

Why would they even release 50 percent of results? Just wait until you have them all

Peak Atlas to declare Pete the winner with huge numbers of delegates remaining in Des Moines and other urban centers where Bernie appears to be winning...

A lot of the election gurus on here who are professional class and highly educated (gass for example) have a weird aversion to Bernie

Lol and Bernie supporters are much more negative on other candidates. Bernie supporters make up a majority of online outspoken political users but constantly complain as if they are in the extreme miniority

I wonder if Buttigieg could sue the Iowa Democratic Party for this utter f**k up that will clearly cost him a lot of momentum and positive coverage. I have no knowledge of election law though
