Bushie promised us he'd call after the 4th of July weekend. It's now Monday evening. Update?

I have moved the evidence into my signature as a reminder.

Speaking of the diet, I believe I have discovered a missing Update.

Pregnancy scare is in orginal Update. Dukey, you're welcome.
Let me throw another monkey wrench into the fire.  Another reason I know we're going to make it through this together and stronger than ever.

Here it is:  In 8 months from now, putting it in the late March time frame, if all goes well, I will be a father.  I'm not talking about a step-father, I'm talking about a REAL, biological father.  We went all the way while we were in Arkansas in late June, so that's why I put 8 months, instead of 9, because its already been nearly one month.

I may seem like a goody-two-shoes pious Christian man, but I am definitely not one of those, and I do have my faults.

Plus, every hint I keep getting from her; and I am getting small, subtle hints; are all positive.

What did Metro Tech say about the CADD certificate when you called them Monday?

Bushie, I'll make you a deal. Just admit you didn't finish CADD, and I'll never bring it up ever again. I bet other members will do the same. What do you say?

I already explained what it would take for me to never mention CADD again. Also, it sounds like this job is already going badly if God had to change your attitude on the first day. What's the plan for when this job doesn't work out?

Bushie's junk food addiction is serious business. There's no difference between his behavior and that of a heroin user. The lying. The enabling family. The health problems. The inability to hold a job. He's not in control of himself. He's expressed a desire to change many times, but he is not capable. It's time people recognize the reality of the situation. Feeding kids fast food and soda should be just as socially unacceptable as giving them cigarettes and liquor.

Words fail me. I feel like, at least, sooner or later, he will run out of money, borrowed or otherwise, and no longer be able to afford Braum's. I also reminded of the time he "accidentally" pressed the wrong soda dispenser and gave himself full calorie soda. Good times!

I live in a town with lots of large people, and I see them working all the time. There's a guy at my job who is at least 350, and he still shows up and works. I don't doubt weight is a problem but being 5'8 and 290 isn't a reason, by itself, to preclude employment. Something else is going on.

But seriously, Ramen Noodles are not healthy. You'd be better off eating another burger.

You need VEGETABLES and FRUITS or you will die.

BUY bananas, blueberries, strawberries, broccoli, snow peas, spinach

You can even top the fruits with Cool Whip and the vegetables with butter if you must, but you NEED to start consuming items with some nutrients or life is over.

It really is a wonder that Bushie is still alive considering the lack of essential vitamins and minerals he consumes. When is the last time he even ate a green vegetable?
This is why the government requires flour to be enriched with vitamins. Bushie and millions of others owe their existence to FDA regulations.

Bushie, I know you know how to make a ham sandwich. Put some fresh spinach in there next time. In addition to the vitamins, you'll get some much needed fiber.

I might put lettuce, but I do not like spinach.
That defeats the entire purpose. Have you ever had fresh spinach? Not the canned slop. It should look like little green leaves, mostly because it is little green leaves. It's delicious.

Changing topics….Bushie, I forget if you ever mentioned this, but what is Allison's level of religiosity compared to you?  Does she not only attend church weekly but also do both group and individual bible study like you do?

She is just as religious as I am, albeit a tad more liberal.  She does do group Bible study.  I'm trying to get her to do individual studies as well.
More liberal politically or theologically?

I really don't understand Bushie's post about marijuana at all.
Me either. If he has personal, religious reasons against marijuana, it's cool with me if he doesn't partake. Why he would want to impose those beliefs on other people who do not share them by force of law is completely beyond me.

I continue to be surprised by the surprise of others toward Bushie's statements of faith. The SBC is the largest Protestant denomination in the US. It's true that they do not always mandate exact points of view, but his statements are largely consistent with what nearly all SBC churches preach. And the SBC isn't alone either. This is what conservative Evangelical Christianity looks like. I know I live in a part of the country where the SBC is more influential than where some other posters live, but it's shocking to me that people who take such an interest in politics don't recognize such an important worldview when they see it. Especially as mainline denominations contunue to wither, Bushie is what white American Protestantism looks like. Even down to the obesity, which is a much more common problem amongst the faithful.

As evidenced here, "grace alone" can truly be made a sick and dangerous concept.

Yes, Protestantism truly is a horror.

I wouldn't want to generalize that, which is why I said it is a concept that can be very sick and dangerous. I know lots of Protestants that would never dream of doing what Bushie does and then pretend that none of it matters because grace has saved them no matter what.
Sounds like those folks are good people despite their religion. Not an uncommon thing, but it still doesn't make the religion a positive force.

I have a hard time envisioning Bushie without religion. It's such an integral part of his character. It'd be like trying to tease out what one of Dickens' orphans would be like if he had grown up with middle class parents.

It's just a simple question - have you received the certificate yet?  If not, have you contacted them about it to follow up?

No, and I have not had time since I started work.

You're going to need a better cop-out than that.  When are you going to call them?  Date and time, please.
He already said he would call them as soon as the 4th of July weekend is over. Get off his back already.

We've covered Bushie's religious beliefs before. Yes, they are much different than any other form of Christianity, but he's never going to change his mind there, and none of us know who is right and won't until we die.

I find it bizarre that he believes you can do whatever you want in life and still get into heaven because you claim to believe, but more power to him.
The SBC is not the only Evangelical denomination. There are many flavors of salvation by faith alone Christianity.

Bushie, do you regret attending MetroTech?
