Their preference would have been for me to wait on employment
Huh

Nietzche and Ayn Rand's love child could not write a more blistering critique of religion than the Update. Good show!

Bushie what made you apply to jcp rather than other dept. Stores.?  Just curious.

I chose Jcp because of its proximity to where I'm living (only 12 miles, no interstate).  Plus, its the first one I thought of when I started applying last Tuesday.  It's not the closest job I've ever had, but its the one that makes the most sense economically.

This is interesting to me. Obviously Santa Clara County isn't at all dense, but I certainly wouldn't consider a department store 12 miles away to be close by. Is everything in suburban Oklahoma really that far apart?
^^^^^
I live in a city fairly comparable to OKC. Also not very dense. And you can get from one end of town to the other in 12 miles. The Brown family trailer must be way out in the sticks!

It's been a while since I had a job interview for a dinky retail job, but "We'll call you in a few days" doesn't sound promising. It's also disappointing that the focus is still on this Kenya pipedream. He may not be at risk of starvation tomorrow, but that's the way he's headed. And no desire to help his parents after all they've done for him, at least while he's living in the trailer? He's owes them big.

I think it's pretty clear he didn't get the JC Penney job. Not so terrible. Plenty of fish in the sea. I would recommend going somewhere less fashion oriented. No offense, but that doesn't seem to be a strong point for you. I said this a long time ago, but I still think a grocery job would be a good fit for you.

He probably did lose some weight in Africa. I doubt fast food was readily available to him over there.

Bushie, do you believe God only kills bad people?

What a disgusting way to view the universe.
The worst part is that once he's dead he won't know he was full of crap. Because he'll be dead.

Don't most Protestant denominations follow the same argument Bushie is making? I don't find the idea reasonable either, but it's hardly unusual or surprising. It's not even as bad as Calvinism where most people are predestined to be damned. Religion is child abuse.

Basically what this last page or two has taught me is that Catholicism is the only branch of Christianity that makes a lick of sense.

Ok, the one who thinks condoms and birth control are a serious evils? That's the one that makes sense.

So they have funny costumes? At least they believe in evolution and encourage their adherents to be good people.
Not concerned about the atrocities in their history? The insane social control of Confession? Catholics and Baptists can both be crazy, you know.

Just a suggestion. Instead of trying to find a "good person," find somebody with good policies. It's the only time you're ever going to be on the hiring side of a job interview. Do it right.

This was eight days ago:

Indeed, I just got out there and walked JJ for a half hour.

How many times have either you or your parents walked her since then?

Several times, at least once a day.

Ahh, ok.  I thought it didn't look like the image of Calvin I pulled up on Google.  I've got to do more research on Cromwell.
Long story made very short, the Puritans overthrew and executed Charles I, back in the 1600s. Cromwell instituted Puritan law and ruled as Lord Protector for several years until he died, after which the monarchy was restored under Charles II.

1. I know the Baptists are officially pretty flexible about matters of doctrine, but I've never known one to espouse Calvinism. That's a hard gap to bridge. Most Baptists are pretty adamant about salvation being available to everyone.
2. Call JC Penney back. It's one phone call that will take five minutes. It could very well land you a job.
3. As Phil noted, the word (so long is she is a woman) is fiancée. The first e has the accent. The apostrophe after the second e is ridiculous.

What if two people were praying to God for two mutually exclusive things? This is what you are describing:

No, they have recovered nicely and are playing with their friends like kids should play with their friends - running, jumping, hollering, and all the rest.

"Hollering" seems to be another favorite word of Bushie's. Anyone else notice that?
Yes, Bushie uses colorful language to get extra attention. Just like a 12 year old who has discovered how cool dropping the f bomb makes him.
