Who do y'all think would get appointed to Cochran's seat if he resigns?

Its Gregg Harper's if he wants it

The article mentions Lt. Gov Tate Reeves, Rep. Gregg Harper and SoS Delbert Hosemann as possibilities, with Chris McDaniel as a last-resort option. Reeves is clearly looking at a 2019 governor run and Hosemann is old so I think Harper probably has the best shot, but MS Reps are clearly wary of a repeat of Luther Strange.

Reeves wants to be governor for sure, McDaniel has 0.0% of getting the Nod, hes on the wrong side of this one. Hosemann is too old for it.

Dark Horse is clearly Phillip Gunn

Has Stacy Pickering fallen out of favor? Big last name in MS GOP circles

Don't think hes fallen out of favor according to my MS friends, but hes behind in line, I'd expect him to move up to Reeves' LG. Harpers been tied to Barbour world for a long time

It's quite disturbing that a sitting Senator is confused about how to vote and has to be coached by staff.

Going to shock you on this one, but most senators, regardless of age and party, are coached how to vote by their staff

If Bryant is going to run for it, as many expect he may despite what he says publicly, why not appoint himself? The line of succession in Mississippi has been fairly predetermined.

The prevailing wisdom is that is just Bryant being Bryant and declining until he decides to not decline

I really think Palazzo is the best choice, as he is the establishment, while still unbearably conservative.

Palazzo is a little far down the list in the Barbour world of next man up... could be him if others pass but I dont think he'll be it.

I'm not that surprised by much in this poll actually, and I dont think it is too far off. I'm sure a lot of the undecided will break towards the more established candidate, but Robert Shuler Smith is a hugely polarizing figure with a large base among black voters who think hes the best. I could absolutely see him at 34%, I dont think he'd climb much higher but I could see him at 34% today and 34% on election day
