I wonder if Matthews will grandstand, forgetting that it's not his show.

I liked the video that was just shown of all the candidates walking through the library; it was nice to see them interacting with each other, although you do have to wonder what they were saying.

Is it me or do I sense more excitement buzzing around tonight's GOP debates than the Dem debates of last week?

Indeed but I would say that's because there is no incumbent president/VP in the race and we haven't seen a GOP debate in seven years so it will really be something different, unlike the Democratic debate which could've been shown with a date from 2004 and no one would know the difference.

Here is my prediction:  ratings for the GOP debate will be alot greater than for the Dem debates.   just another early warning sign that 2008 will not be a Democratic year

I'm not really seeing the correlation.

- Matthews was awful and was a pushover and seemed to give Romney special treatment.
- Giuliani was hit and miss. His good answers were great and his bad answers were so-so. Nice catch on that retarded Sunni-Shiite question. I just wish he would stop tip-toeing around abortion issues.
- McCain has the Bob Dole syndrome: eight years too late.
- Huckabee was articulate. I don't think I'd vote for him but I sure do like him.
- Gilmore was a non-factor. He didn't really say anything to make him noticeable.
- Paul did alright; it was interesting to hear his perspective.
- I felt bad for Tancredo; they kept cutting him off (while giving Romney all the time) and he seemed defeated.
- Brownback took his place as the religious right candidate.
- Hunter is obviously running for Secretary of Defense.
- Tommy Thompson had a good answer on Iraq but not many besides that.
- As I said before, car salesman Romney seemed to get the most time for some reason, as I said before. Most of his answers came off as fake and horribly scripted to me.

And here may be the most important thing I noticed....
-I did not see a President on that stage tonight.

Do you support Fred Thompson's entry into the race more or less now?

Just about the same. It would be pretty hard to seem less presidential than what was on stage tonight but I've always welcomed Thompson into the race; I just hope that jokes like Tommy Thompson and Jim Gilmore (perhaps even McCain) will drop out soon.

I think Fred THompson wins the Republican nomination if he enters the race.

Oh, definitely. Especially after tonight.

I don't even know if I could rank all the candidates because I think all of them were pretty underwhelming/awful. If I had to pick who did the best job I suppose I would pick Huckabee. As I said before, Giuliani was off and on. I actually don't think McCain was as bad as everyone is making him out to be.

MSNBC is saying that it's believed to be that Romney is the winner....hold on, my pizza is coming up....

So when do the democrats stand in front of Brit Hume?  Tongue

Chris Matthews voted for Bush twice. Nice try though.

He's definitely a left-leaning independent though, I'd say.

I'd vote for most Democrats over Romney.

When will politicians from Massachusetts realize that no one in the rest of the country wants them for President? Ted Kennedy, Dukakis, Tsongas, Kerry, now Romney.

Hey! Watch it! My boy Weld is from MA!

Uh, I thought he was last claiming to be from New York.

Yea but the last state he represented was MA.
