Hübner will face no consequences after a personal talk with FPÖ-general secretary Kickl today.

http://derstandard.at/2000061554128/Antisemitismus-Keine-Konsequenzen-fuer-Huebner-in-der-FPOe

Strache (who is currently on vacation in Spain) did not comment, Norbert Hofer says "Hübner's choice of words was not OK and that people in the FPÖ need to speak more carefully" and Hübner himself said that he will speak "more carefully in the future".
Stupid that he's facing no consequences but good that Hofer spoke out. Hopefully Strache does later but it seems like he doesn't wanna deal with this

It seems that  both BZÖ and Team Stronach are pretty much dead.  They do not even show up in polls anymore.   If so these polling numbers should be highly disappointing to FPÖ since they are polling below sum of 2013 vote share for FPÖ, Team Stronach and BZÖ.   A good chuck of that vote seems have gone to ÖVP.
TS announced that they weren't running candidates this time around. I believe BZÖ did the same

New OGM poll for the "Kurier":

Since their May poll, the ÖVP gains 1 point, the SPÖ loses 2, FPÖ is stable, Greens lose 2, NEOS gain 1 and Pilz gains 2 points.

I believe Pilz was not specifically asked as a choice, because his list is not in parliament yet - but more as a voluntary option.

Is Pilz affecting the SPÖ's poll numbers?

Did both these parties endorse FPÖ?
I don't believe so. I'm relatively sure TS did not but I don't think BZÖ did either

Will Pilz create his own party, or will any candidates who win be officially registered as independents in parliament?

Pilz has already launched his own list on Tuesday, but not a "party" as he specifically said. The word "party" is very baaad these days in Austrian politics. Everyone calls their "party" either a "list" or a "movement" ... Wink

And, yes, every candidate who gets elected will be part of the Pilz List - not Independents. Some of Pilz's candidates (like himself) are just independent in the outgoing parliament ...
Ok.

Also, as of now, how many of Pilz's candidates (including Pilz himself) have a better-than-decent chance of winning seats?

Well, if we assume that Pilz's list gets just barely over the 4% threshold, then they would get 8 out of the 183 seats in parliament. If he gets 10%, this would rise to 18 seats.
Ah. Thanks!

Pilz isn't getting as much support as I would've thought.  I expected him to be polling about NEOS.  Does he still have lots of room to improve?

Everything is possible. The polls could be off by a lot. Pilz could get the support of SPÖ and FPÖ-voters on election day. Or the other way around: The small parties could all get crushed by the coming 3-way fight for first place.
Ok thanks

Do you personally expect any unforeseen surprises on election day?

So does this mean FLÖ is becoming more right-wing than FPÖ?

As of today, the Team Stronach is officially dead.

Yesterday, they still had 6 MPs in parliament. Today, party-leader Robert Lugar and Martina Schenk quit the parliamentary group. 5 MPs are needed for an official parliamentary group though.

Therefore, the TS parliamentary group does not exist any longer and they will be kicked out of any possible investigation committees in the next 3 months until the new parliament starts in November.

The number of Independent MPs in the Austrian parliament has now risen to 15.

Oh well Smiley Will they join another party at a later time?

ÖVP, but, as long as the FPÖ keeps its radical elements shoved away to the fringes of politics, I wouldn't mind them being coalition partners.

EDIT: NEOS also wouldn't be bad.

I guess I'm just against anything to the left of NEOS.

If you were to use the latest poll, what would the seat totals come up to if the election were held?

Do you think the chances of the FPÖ getting second place have risen?

Personally, I feel like they might underpoll just like other similar parties in Europe, but I'd like to hear your perspective.

"Elephant" debate (the only one with all 6 major candidates) will start on PULS 4 in 40 minutes:

https://www.puls4.com/live-551

Really good and lively debate so far. They are already referencing the German election.

Currently they are debating tax cuts, introducing inheritance taxes and taxing large international companies.

Liberal Strolz (NEOS) to the left-populist Pilz:

"I don't know where you got your degree, but it was probably the Karl Marx Institute."

Daaaaaaaaang

Meanwhile, I have finally decided that I will vote for Kern (and only reluctantly for the SPÖ) in this election. While I had some problems with their policy on immigration in the past, I still agree with their other (social) policies a lot more than what other parties have to offer. Kurz is a good guy, but like with the SPÖ, I don't like the party behind him (which has been in power for the past 35 years). I guess a vote for the SPÖ in this election will be a lost vote, because I think Kern and the SPÖ will lose the election and will go into opposition. But I will not become an ÖVP-FPÖ enabler. NEOS, another option I considered, is too neo-liberal on the issues for my taste. Besides, last year a good family friend of my mom (and me) died of cancer at the age of 75. She was a solid SPÖ-voter and I will dedicate my vote to her.

I am happy to hear that you made up your mind!

Very sorry to hear about your mom's friend.

This debate is fu**ing awesome.

The candidates just got beer glasses put onto their debate podiums, filled along the size of their proposed tax cuts.

Strolz from NEOS already started drinking ... Wink
Beer in a political debate?? I shudder to think what Trump would have done in such a situation.

He would’ve rejected it probably since he doesn’t drink.
