How stupid is this man? It’d be greatly popular in his state.

Politicians, especially those Manchin's age, are intensely convinced that America is more right-wing/less supportive of liberal policies than they actually are.

It looks like, the reality is finally starting dawn on moderate Dems that they simply will not be able to get the bipartisan infrastructure bill passed without progressive Dems support.

This just proves how foolish and idiotic the moderates Dems plan was in the first place. As I said before had they actually had the votes to just get the stand alone bipartisan infrastructure bill passed by itself, I would have supported them, but the reality is they simply never had the votes to pull it off since Kevin McCarthy and most house Republicans have now made it very clear that they have no intention whatsoever of helping moderate Dems pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill if progressive Dems end up not voting for it

These Democrats are finally realizing the political costs of these bills failing. Glad they finally are waking up--hope the rest of their ranks wake up today for the good of the party

Hold the line, Joe!
What the knife and will she recognize that it’s being shown?

Who knows.

The most baffling thing is that Sinema and Manchin aren't even on the same page. They could each put out some detailed papers about what they would want a bill to look like and they don't--they have nothing but vague ideas of fiscal conservatism. It's getting to the point where this is hardly a negotiation

Just remember guys, Manchin is always secretly doing what the leadership wants, so this mess is clearly what the leadership has secretly been planning for all along. For some reason they wanted the administration to have no achievements for over half a year while the infrastructure bill gets broken down and public enthusiasm wanes. Despite the President's approvals tanking for the past month after Afghanistan, he apparently wants to put off and water down a big campaign promise unnecessarily rather than using it to get back on track.

Is this a parody of other posts or do you actually believe this?

I always preferred the presidential system, but seeing this unfolding, I'm actually glad Germany is run differently and we're actually getting a government that can (very likely) get stuff done. It would be so much better if the Democrats had a majority that would follow Joe Biden to pass urgent reforms.

It's truly insane and unfortunate that Democrats could lose everything because of just two senators actions. Just two.

Thank Maine voters and either Cal Cunningham for his lack of discipline or Bill Nelson for sleeping during the 2018 campaign.

Why did you prefer a Presidential system even before this?

In the modern era there's never been a benefit to a presidential system over a parliamentary system, aside from having a huge number of minor parties which is more the fault of PR and low thresholds than the actual system as a whole. There's a reason the US never exported its model of governing to nations it occupied.
