Hmm? What'll happen in less than that?

Also can anyone confirm that the Vermont House votes on it on Friday? I think I remember reading about that, but to be honest I forgot the source, or I don't know whether it even happened. If it is Friday though, I'll miss the vote and won't find out till Monday. Sad

I think that gay marriage will be legal in less than ten years.

Satan completes his conquest of New England I guess.  Tongue

I'm not a pro-gay enthusiast. As a matter of fact, I was a little uneasy with the concept of gay marriage.

But thanks to the vile and hateful opposition of troglodytes like you and your childhood heroes (Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, James Dobson, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly), I now fully support marriage equality by whatever means, legislative or judicial.

I'm as big of a proponent of gay marriage as there can be, but that's a nonsense reason to support it.

Then again, Rowan's reason -- if it isn't true -- is equally as disappointing.  Amazing how both sides manage to see the other as so much more insidious, but would totally be super sympathetic to the opponents if they weren't such a-holes. Tongue

That reminds me of my brother voting in favor of California selling bonds to get into the embryonic stem cell research business.  I told my brother that the proposal made zero sense. California is not suited for that task, and it should be done on a national basis, since otherwise California to the extent anything of scientific value comes out of the research (doubtful), would be subsidizing the other 49 states despite some chatter about patents and all.

What was my brother's response? Well, it was something along the lines that I don't give a f__k about that; I just want to screw the pro life nutters and religious fundamentalists every chance I get!

It kind of reminds me of our very own BRTD!  Smiley

And so it goes. Sad

There are always guns and illegals to recycle, as well as pointing out the creeping Godlessness which stalks the Fruited Plain. Maybe the Dems will stub their toe on the death penalty.

Moving right along, what is a real wedge issue?  You guessed it: card check!  It's war baby.

I hope all 50 have marriage.  But I know it won't happen.  <sigh>
Unless Scalia has a heart attack. Tongue It won't happen.

Besides, at this point in time, I'd be afraid for a gay couple's safety to get married in a place like Utah or Alabama...

Are Mormons known for being violent?

They were once, ala Mountain Meadows, and blood atonement, etc. They are gone much more mainstream and "acceptable" to majority  sensibilities since.

How can Obama extend benefits by executive order again, if that is what is entailed here?

He's the head of the executive branch, which means about 3 million employees report to him indirectly. Can't he direct the OPM to modify their policies, in the absence of any countervailing legislation?

I don't know where public employee pay as a statutory matter ends, and public employee pay as a function of employer discretion and negotiation begins.
