BRTD has a point of view that has some merit. For example, I agree that Jefferson was a mess and a headcase. More interesting are the problematic POTUS's, such as Nixon and LBJ. Their rank may change as time goes on. Trump however has a pretty secure place in the chamber of horrors. Which is why our land is susceptible to great evil, just like any place else. American exceptionalism is a massive myth. That is my opinion. We just had the most productive and largest bit of real estate on the planet, and a civil culture that made it different a somewhat from those cultures that had less of one, like the Spanish diaspora. But it is still fragile, and will wither without nurturing, despite its blessings of nature and inheritance of cultural institutions governance and ideals - at least on paper if not always in reality.
