Good riddance. For once Laxalt is doing something not insane and not far right.

Then we get another loony rural Republican in the state assembly. Unless the Mormon vote comes in droves for the Dem candidate, this seat is Safe R.

Sad to say I think this hurts Laxalt a bit in the rural vote, which loves to vote 3rd party.

I'd say he is overwhelmingly favored to win until proven otherwise. AD-36 went for Trump by over 30 points and for Romney by somewhat less but still > 20 points. It's Republican enough to absorb an intermediate backlash against him, if that even happens. I think the Trump era has shown us just how tribal things can get, and this district doesn't really fit the profile of a place trending to Democrats in any way, which is something Democrats depended on even in the Alabama Senate special election.

I mean to be fair the eastern part of the district is heavily LDS so that part may vote against him but that'll be nowhere near enough; Hoff is literally a perfect fit for most of the district.

He'll crack double figures in a few but he has no base home county where he's popular to even make it a legit 3 way race.

I wouldn't be shocked if Sandoval voted for Sisolak but he won't publicly endorse him.

This happened to Laxalt in 2014 against Ross Miller while running for AG. And honestly given that Domenici refused to acknowledge he was the father of Laxalt until 2013, it's not as shocking as it appears on the surface.
