I apologize for making this thread, FWIW.  I take full responsibility for the ensuing s**tstorm.

Seriously now, why is being a virgin or not held to be a defining character of personal value on this forum?

My responses in this thread have been a bit tongue in cheek; whether or not someone has had sex doesn't really have any factor in their value as a human being and I don't mean to imply otherwise.

My excited attitude is because from my observations over the years, most virgins on this website wished they weren't, but lacked the social skills necessary to accomplish this. I interpret this poll's results to mean that at least a significant portion of those people are now presentable enough in society that they have met at least one person willing to engage them in intercourse, which shows that no matter how lame/awkward you think you might be, with the right attitude and effort there's really no reason to be self loathing, especially about something that people really shouldn't make such a big deal about in the first place.

Is it bad that I've had over 60 sexual partners at age 23?

I just turned 24 and I've had about 55 partners

as the reigning holder of the title I hereby pronounce you the new official forum manwhore

bravo good sir!

But you are straight, are you not?  For a straight man, that's pretty impressive.  For a gay man, its average.

I am a straight, more or less, yes. I have been physical with a few men (experimented a few times here and there) but found the experiences lacking and I've never made the sex with any of them. All of my fiftyfive (plus or minus two) partners have been women

This sounds really shallow of me to ask, but why do I get the feel that it's easier for homosexuals to hook up with people than it is for straights?  Given the general (albeit evolving) attitude in the United States on homosexuality, I'd expect the complete opposite to be the case.

Well, men tend to be more promiscuous than women, in turn lesbianism is more accepted by society. Personally, the few times in my high school days that I did try and hook up with a woman it was next to impossible. So much work. Guys on the other hand its usually just not that difficult. I'm no expert though, but I'd guess that on average gay men have the most sex, followed by straight men, followed by straight women, with lesbians bringing up the rear. Basically, men get horny.

lesbians have extremely active sex lives, on a level comparable to gay men, but it's more of an "all the time with a small number of people" rather than "a few times with a large number of people"

source: last year I had five lesbian roommates and became fully immersed in their subculture

I... really hope you guys use protection.

Kind of surprised no one brought that up.

I'll be honest, I didn't always use it when I was younger but I was lucky to escape contracting any STD and I get tested regularly just to be safe even though now I'm more careful.

No pregnancies?

There's always the possibility that a girl got an abortion without my knowledge (or that there is a little Bacon King running around now, from one of the couple of girls I had unprotected sex with and never saw afterwards) but even when I was dumb about it I was still smart enough mostly to only have sex without a condom when my partner was on birth control, or at least do it in that sweet spot the first few days after her period when she certainly wasn't ovulating
