i think we all realize that in bushie's circle of friends and family...being a fat is not a bad thing and not looked down upon.

That's actually an interesting question, Jeff -- does your family acknowledge the health risks posed by your obesity and encourage you to eat better / exercise, or is it ignored?

They think diabetes is a joke so no.

As far as our reaction to Dad's diagnosis.  We all were laughing when he got home.  You can either get really upset and distraught or you can take it in stride and laugh.  We chose the laughing route.  Dad joked that he is now "joining the medicine club."  Up until now, he has not had to take medicine on a daily basis.  He'll be fine.  We know where we need to cut down and we'll have further meetings as a family, but it doesn't mean we're going to stop enjoying ourselves  in the food department, especially on the weekends.  As a family we have a policy that diets are not allowed to begin on weekends.  Weekends are about having fun with what you're eating and enjoy yourself.  Healthy (or healthier) eating is for Monday-Thursday night.  When Dad has Friday off, Thursday night gets lumped in with the weekend enjoyment.  We will continue to enjoy ourselves.  Clearly there needs to be changes to what we are doing, and those changes will come, but we are not going to throw everything in the cupboard in the trash and start over just because of a diagnosis.  We'll make gradual changes.

I was looking for this disgusting post........Papa works his balls off to feed them, take care of the place, do the chores, run around, without a moment's peace......yet they laugh.  Repulsive

Good Thursday Morning.  Even though I have an interview tomorrow, naturally I'm going to continue the job search today.  An interview is not a job.  In about 10 minutes, I'm going to drive to find the company before I have to find it tomorrow.  Yes, I have my GPS and I have always been very good with maps, but I am a visual learner and I do better when I've been to the actual location before I have to go there.  It may seem like a waste of money and time, but I've found this is something that works for me.

I don't think there is one person here who doesn't believe he has mental health issues that he has refused to acknowledge, for the reasons noted by waltermitty in the preceding post, Gustaf.

2) Add a half a dozen chicken breasts and throw a can of cream of chicken soup or cream of mushroom soup over them - dinner for several days.

3) Add a pork roast and a large jar or bag of sauerkraut.   - dinner for several days.

I am home from a great morning service at church and now I'm watching the five hour long Super Bowl pregame followed by the three and a half to four hour game.  It's cold and blustery outside, so it's a good day to stay inside and spend the next 9 hours on the Super Bowl.
