Good morning everyone, sorry I was late to swearing in and starting this vote. Seeing as two people have already put forward their candidacies, I'm going to go straight to voting from right here. This means I will be skipping the 24-hour nomination window. If someone has a problem with that then I'll allow write-in votes for Speaker, in case you want someone else for the job other than the two on the ballot. Anyway, voting begins now and will continue for 48 hours or until all members have voted.

Alright, we have a snap Speaker election. I don't have the capacity to serve out the remainder of the term so let's choose someone to fill the role for the time being. My last Speaker vote! How touching.

I'm going to allow until tonight (like 6 PM ET) for anyone else to run/nominate a colleague. As Dean I'm suspending the rules to do this, to deal with the unique circumstance. Ishan and Rep. Joseph Cao will already be counted as candidates. Then I will open a 24-hour vote so we can have a Speaker by tomorrow night.

I checked the rules, and it says that we must choose a Speaker from among us our own membership. Also, my original post only asked for "anyone else to run/nominate a colleague," which also implied that only members of the House can run. Alas, I would have voted for you.
