If this passes Democrats need to hike taxes on the rich as soon as they get in in 2021, and ideally hike top income tax rates above 50% to pre-Reagan levels. This can be done with an infrastructure reform bill, overhauling the tax code and destroying Trump's one accomplishment while actually delivering for working Americans and creating more jobs and rising incomes.

That could turn out disastrous politically unless you impose severe penalties for capital flight/offshoring along with it.

If enough Democrat Senators played the delay game regarding throwing votes in to send the bill back to committee, then we would have had a real shot at delaying the bill until McCain had to go back to Arizona continue his cancer treatments, which would have costed the Republicans a yes vote.

Imagine everyone's tax rates going up and down every few years. Or everyone getting enrolled in a national health insurance plan only to have it abruptly ended four years later.

As I keep having to point out, the filibuster was almost nonexistent pre 1970's, and most of those were segregation related, and yet despite this society chugged along fine. Blame the culture, not a lack of gentleman's agreements for instability.
