His wife is literally a member of the Senate and considering it's a much smaller body he also has a lot more influence over and friendships with each individual member. It's also a more Conservative institution by its nature.
Also, if Trump decides to go all in on trying to rally his base for Paxton then I think that also could sway things.
We'll see, but I've got very little faith in the institutions of government in our state.
