Most people who complain about "tone policing" are just assholes who don't like other people telling them so. It's telling that the worst of both the left and right do this. Also, I've never heard anyone complain about the other side being "tone policed", only when it happens to them.

George Harrison is one of the least deserving artists in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

He's in because of his image and the fact that he was in the same band as John Lennon and Paul McCartney, not because of his music as a solo artist. (A similar statement is true for Stevie Nicks, but saying that about her isn't a hot, bad, or unpopular take)

All Things Must Pass is by far the best Beatles solo album and the only one can stand next to the classic Beatles albums. John always had like 3 or 4 great songs and then filler and solo Paul can eff off.

But the whole concept of a rock and roll hall of fame is against the ethos of rock music so who cares

Iceland's policy on downs syndrome should be applied elsewhere.

I'll see that take and raise you the take that Iceland's treatment of Down Syndrome (my understanding is that it can't really be called a "policy") should attract the same level of opprobrium that China got for the one child policy.

One child policy at least makes sense pragmatically even if it is awful on moral and human rights grounds. What Iceland is doing is pure eugenics and pseudoscience.

New age atheism like Dawkins, Harris, the late Hitchens, Bill Maher, etc.. seem to becoming an increasingly right wing reactionary group in this day and age as opposed to the liberals they were branded as in the 2000s

I would imagine if you did a poll atheists would demonstrate much more liberal views (at least on social issues) than religious people. There are probably more right wing atheists now just because there are more atheists. Obviously religious conservatives are not going to be atheists so they are going to be other right wing groups like libertarians or the alt right.

Roe v Wade overturn in the summer of 2020 is inevitable, and anyone who thinks otherwise is just engaging in wishful thinking.

Yes, such a totally reasonable action to take in an election year without a solid majority on the court.

Doing that the summer before an election would be a sure-fire way to get a somewhat lethargic Dem base off the charts fired up. Don't think there's any way Trump wins if Roe goes down months before the election.

Why hate George Harrison? It was Lennon who was the biggest douche of ‘em all.

That is true, but Lennon deserves enshrinment. His solo career was far more impactful and infulential than Harrison's.
You consider “Freda People” an impactful song???

Imagine and Plastic Ono Band are pretty legit (most the lame MOR classic rock guys in the hall haven't done anything close to that good) and Instant Karma is one of the best songs ever.

The gospel according to Mark is the most interesting read of the four gospels from a literary standpoint. Jesus doesn’t come off as divine as in the other 3 so when it’s revealed he comes back from the dead it’s treated as this big shocking reveal. So from a pure reading standpoint you’d actually feel more at stake when goes into his passion

This isn't that uncommon a take. Luke is the fan-favorite Gospel (so to speak) but all four of them do have their partisans, and plenty of people do like Mark best for this reason.

I have personally observed most devout Christians tend to like John best.

Jordan Peterson is almost incredibly misunderstood (and more likely intentionally misrepresented), and he very clearly is not a member of the Alt Right.  He’s a kind, thoughtful world class thinker who’s passionate about a variety of issues that have nothing to do with politics, and he’s awesome.

Well, he can definitely be very sophistic and trolly so I don't "like" him, but he is not alt-right or a bigot. I would guess he has typical center-left political views.

Although it is extremely unlikely to happen, I want Trump to win the popular vote and lose the Electoral College.  That, as things stand, is the only way to get Republicans to sign onto the NPVIC.

It would just be hilarious to watch Fox and all the right wing pundits do a 180 and suddenly hate the EC and think it's so unfair.

A Romney victory in 2012 would have likely halted this level of radicalization within the GOP.

This is pretty clearly true even if most Dems probably wouldn't want to go back and change anything.

Woodrow Wilson was a net good domestically, laying the ground for the New Deal. This is not negated by the more negative sides to his record (particularly in foreign affairs).

No, Wilson was a white supremacist. We need to decolonize our history by repealing laws he passed such as the federal income tax and the federal reserve; this is the only way for us to pay reparations to the #POC black and brown bodies who were marginalized by Wilson's administration.

Lefties are gonna roll their eyes at this but this is the same argument they use with Jefferson's limited government views.

I don't care if you're a wokester looking to create as many protected classes as possible or a subconscious racist trying to gatekeep who is truly "White" ...

Amazing how close these two groups are to each other at times. Like the debates about whether Jewish people are white with the far left/right coming to opposite conclusions so they can have a reason to hate them.
