Great news. Cornyn wipes the floor with Stockman, who will then be out of Congress. Win-win. Plus the entertainment value.

Club for Growth supports Cornyn for reelection and will not back Stockman in his primary challenge.

Wendy Davis's campaign needs to cherry pick every batsh!t crazy thing Steve Stockman and Dan Patrick say during the upcoming primaries and run them on TV ads on an endless loop. No commentary. Just a big message at the end that says, "This is the Texas Republican Party. Who are you going to vote for?"

If Wendy Davis wants to run against Stockman she should've ran for Senate (and now I'm wishing she did).

But Stockman's not likely to end up winning(esp. given the dynamics he is facing). Then what? She ends up losing by 20+ points to Cornyn.

If Wendy Davis wants to hold any higher office she is better off running for governor(even if that is a long shot too).

Well her chances against both Abbott and Cornyn are 0%. But her chances against Stockman would be somewhere north of 0%.

Well Stockman isn't even likely to win the primary so it's a moot point.

What makes you think that? If Christine O'Donnell can beat Mike Castle in DELAWARE of all places, then Steve Stockman can beat John Cornyn in Texas.

If Chris Coons and Joe Donnelly thought about who was "likely" to win a primary, they wouldn't be senators right now.

1. Cornyn is a heavily entrenched, well funded, Senator who is backed by all the establishment conservatives in TX(ppl Cruz didn't piss off when he was running for Senate)

2. Texas is not Delaware it is a lot bigger a state with a more politically diverse(interest-wise) GOP then that of DE. Texas is also much more Conservative then DE and even "moderate" Democrats who would be very electable anywhere else(even in other red states) struggle against conservative Republicans. So even if Stockman were to somehow win he could have a fair shot at the Senate(which even for me is pretty scary)

3. Stockman does not have the money or other resources to mount any serious challenge to Cornyn. You use the O'Donnell analogy but again running a campaign in a state like DE(one of the nation's smallest states) is a lot different from running one in TX(one of the biggest). Also I just don't see a lot f the Tea Party types railing around Stockman for some reason. Already the Club for Growth(a thorn in the side of establishment GOP politicians has said it would back Sen. Cornyn). I also don't see other "conservative" exactly lining up to back Stockman ether. Simply put if you don't have the money you aren't exactly in a position to win-esp. in a state as big as Texas.

Stockman is a clown even by Tea Party standards. He's not going to get major outside support and, given the size of Texas and its early primary, there's no way he can raise enough on his own to be even vaguely competitive.

I would not be surprised to see him lose by a 2-1 margin.

Exactly!

You just summed it up for me.
