I'm hoping that it's going to be a an announcement of sending more troops into Kabul and keeping them there until we can get our Afghani allies out. It would be a moral catastrophe to leave them in the lurch like this.

It's refreshing to see left-wingers/liberals/Democrats disagreeing with each other over actually salient issues again rather than everybody taking the same line because the matter of "is having a sociopathic narcissist with authoritarian impulses leading the country a bad thing" somehow became a partisan issue.

I actually kinda miss the unity myself.

It makes for more interesting conversation fodder on the forum.

In terms of policy debates, sure I guess. But I kinda miss when nobody really talked or cared too much about specific ideological disagreements because we were all focused on the campaign.

But then again I’ve always found the campaigning/elections side of politics to be more interesting than the policy itself, to tell the truth.

This is the part where a leftist comes out of the woodworks and chastises you for being a bougie liberal so ensconced in privilege that you can afford to only care about the stylistic politicking side of electoral democracy rather than how public policy affects the plight of the socioeconomically marginalized.
