Every asshole one of them thinks they know what's best for everyone else and thinks state violence is the best way to protect us from ourselves. Yes, of course that's stupid, but so is voting for the one of the same two corrupt political parties over and over like a crazy person.
One of the most detrimental rules of politics is that the American populace doesn't usually get called out for its role in electing bad politicians. If keeping their job requires pandering to reckless knuckledraggers, who's going to confront the American public for their bad choices?
