We're about a day early for this poll, but I figured why not now?

In frankness, this year basically sucked for me personally but I've also heard from very few people who actually think things improved for them this year compared to last year.  I can't help but sense melancholy pretty much all-around, political developments notwithstanding.  It just feels like most everyone I know had either a rough or average-at-best year and it feels like there's a collective dark cloud overhead on everyone.  I dunno.  Maybe it's just me.  But with the rise in suicide rates and prescription drug use, it wouldn't really surprise me either.

Vote and if at all possible don't vote based on how well your preferred political parties/candidates did in the elections this year, because making one's happiness contingent upon election results is just plain unhealthy.

Are you saying that my behavior is unhealthy?

I voted Horrible Year because the US Senate did not flip.

Yes.  The pendulum swings every two or four years.  If you choose to invest all your happiness in the way elections turn out, then you are setting yourself up for quite the emotional roller coaster because elections will never always turn out the way you want them to.  Don't let your politics define your existence, because it's truly not the only thing that matters in life.
