The suburban Democratic trend is temporary. A more diverse U.S. will force the Republican Party to move back to the center socially, and along with that, the suburbs will shift Republican. Especially with the growth of democratic socialism within the Democratic Party.

America is suburbanizing in general though. Where would Democrats derive their electoral power? You'd have to be more specific. If Republicans controlled rural areas and suburbs in general, that wouldn't leave a whole lot else outside of urban cores.

Not to mention that suburbs are becoming less white and the GOP has no interest in appealing to non-whites..

As far as the GOP appealing to minority voters, I'll believe it when I see it.  There is no law that says a party must do anything, and right now the GOP is heavily skewed toward white voters and not much else.  It will take at least a generation to erase the stains of Donald Trump.

Most American non-poor progressives have seriously underestimated the drawbacks of a Canadian style healthcare system and would complain quite a bit about the taxes they pay and quality of care received if they actually had to participate in our system.

I say this as a single payer supporter.

The sell for Americans should be "bigger paycheck, much less aggravation." The problem won't be the cost. The problem will be when they find out they still have to navigate claims and haggle over co-pays, reasonable charges from providers, and what is and isn't covered, just like in private healthcare.

"I thought we got free care! Why do I have to pay to see the doc about my sniffle? Why are they charging me $1000 for my emergency room visit for a bruised knee?"

I'm also a supporter of single payer, but Americans already don't understand healthcare, and that's not going help.

I was thinking stuff like spped of delivery. The average wait time for a knee replacement is two years in my province. Anyone with money goes to America to get it done. I waited 6 months to see a specialist. Very long waits in the ER. Etc etc.

Do wait times vary by province or is this the case nationwide?  The most common retort I've seen to the wait times argument is that they are only as long as they are because Canada's healthcare system is underfunded.

I support "Medicare for All" in some form, but Canada's model would be extremely difficult to emulate in the United States.  Britain has comparatively shorter wait times but is chronically underfunded and Germany has lower cost-based access barriers.  I tend to prefer multi-payer over single-payer because systems that use the former tend to be more efficient.

Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z don't really exist except as made up by the media and the only differences are generic old vs. young.  Those terms should be burned.  Baby Boomers make sense because they are an actual demographic group (i.e. the post-war baby boom).

What about the Lost Generation, Interbellum Generation, Greatest Generation, and Silent Generation?  The birth years may be arbitrary, but a generation is only born within a span of 12-25 years, give or take.

Not sure if either REALLY counts as a "Hot, Bad [or] Unpopular Take," but I have been on a World War I kick lately:

1) The Central Powers, in a vacuum, were completely justified in going to war, and Germany's over-the-line actions once the war broke out (took "the best defense is a good offense" to an extreme, for example) overshadow this simple fact WAY too much in our retelling of the Great War.  The Central Powers may have wanted a war, and they may have clearly been the overall "worse actors" in this conflict (I would agree with both), but Austria-Hungary had every right to go to war with Serbia, and Germany had every right to back them up ... until conspiracy theories are proven.

2) Germany was much more impressive from a military standpoint in WWI than they were in WWII, regardless of the fact that Hitler was able to conquer much of Europe.
