Kremlin: Neutral Ukraine with  own army possible compromise option

Meanwhile, some Putin crony on Russian state TV yesterday was ranting about "taking back" Alaska and Antarctica <sic> once they had restored the entire Tsarist-cum-Soviet empire.

I will defend my beloved Antarctica down to the last penguin.

Just to temper the sentiment, it appears at first glance that these are merely reconnaissance drones (TUAS; akin to the Russian one that Ukrainians shot down after flying into Poland/Romania) and not Predator/Bayraktar TB2 UAV drones.

They would just be intelligence gathering drones.

Biden has illustrated a clear picture that the US are not getting involved with bullets and tanks.

I think it's good that he drew a line in the sand.

Zelenskyy advisor Alexander Rodnyansky was in a German TV talkshow tonight and he said that Putin isn't actually interested in a negotiated peace, but the purpose of the talks is to buy time for Russia to get their military organized again.
I've read that another Ukrainian concern is that even if a full peace agreement was reached, Putin would simply rebuild and improve the military, preparing for another invasion.

Honestly what the US needs to do, whenever the war ends, is make an agreement, treaty, alliance, pact, or whatever that if Ukraine is attacked, the US/NATO will defend it. Putin would not have invaded if US/NATO intervention was a consequence. End of story.

Why would US troops put their lives on the line for other countries pre-war? These countries tax payers send nothing to the US.

The only time they like the US is when they are in trouble. The remainder of the time they say the US is giant and stupid. Look at France.

I think the US is tired of being the World police and has lost the appetite to be fighting these wars.

At this stage, if Putin invaded Canada, the US would say "too far away" for us to get involved.

The US has to fix itself at home before spending another 4-6 trillion dollars on wars that don't need waging.

I'm pretty sure we just gave them 20 million bullets in the latest aid package.

I was meaning active shooters on the ground. If the US goes in, there will be blood.

I expected more Poles, given the strength of feeling in the diaspora.

Normally, it is illegal for Australian's to leave our country and fight foreign wars (mainly ISIS weirdos) but the Australian Govt is considering reviewing that for Ukrainian fighters.

I don't want to be Dr Strangelove, but Putin may contemplate a 1-10 kT nuclear weapon on the Ukrainian military if things don't go his way.

Before that, he will try the oxygen consumption weapons that suck the air out of their lungs.

And if that doesn't get Zelensky to give up, Putin then moves to chemical weapons which he did in Syria.

And then if things gets nasty, a nuclear weapon. Then Zelensky will wave the white flag.

I get the feeling Putin is going to step things up to become the bigger dog in this fight.

Hopefully peace talks can de-escalate the situation.

.......but I will go ahead and do so anyway Smiley

And voila....there you go.

New Russian missile technology being used for the first time today:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-03-19/ukraine-volodymyr-zelenskyy-says-time-for-meaningful-talk-russia/100923654

Some new hypersonic missile that travels 10 times the speed of sound and has a range of 2,000km.

Vladimir Putin is going to test his full range of military capability (thermobaric, chemical) on Ukraine for the foreseeable future.

He is making sure Russia is match-fit for future conflicts.

Australia will be happy to plant more grain for these countries.

China has imposed sanctions on our agricultural exports over the last 12-24 months throughout COVID so replacing our export markets will not be a problem now.

Again what exactly does sending aid to Russia give you? If you truly do want better US China relations but are also willing to balance other factors how will China sending aid to Russia benefit either America or China or their relations ?

Your position is merely one of wanting to own the libs.

I don't disagree with your approach or questions.

Keep in mind China can just lie and say they are not sending aid to Russia.

Then they just send aid to Russia.

That appears almost obvious to the point it is most likely already happening.

Zelenskyy bans the biggest opposition party, will the EU reject UA admission request due to democratic backsliding?

As far as I understand it, it's only for the duration of the state of emergency.

Why would one ban the opposition party?

Seems a little bit misguided when you are singing for your supper to the left woke media.

Any bets on whether the wildfires were caused by one of those TOS-1A thermobaric launchers?

Probably not a lot of fuel on the ground after winter.

Fire season in the Ukraine ~August-September?

The media is getting tired of the Ukraine War in Australia. And it's getting pretty generic:

Start.

The Russians bombed a:

(a) Theatre
(b) School
(c) Church

Add voice of Ukrainian person talking. Add a Western journalist talking.

End.

Today's report in Australia was of a bombing event in Kiev with no victims.

The media is waiting for a specific event to occur. If it doesn't occur, they report it as not occurring.

We are not getting any proper news. We are just getting someone's opinion written into a pre-existing template. Then put on Twitter and it is then pasted with more opinions.

Does anyone have any news websites they prefer for the actual details of events rather than generic propaganda and opinion?

The best I found was DW.

Don’t think these have been mentioned yet…

As mentioned in that thread what exactly do people think the Wagner Group is?

Ah, there’s that false flag everyone knew Russia was preparing…

…to justify what they’re preparing to do.

Note the parallels.

Here’s another horrible Ukrainian Neo-Nazi according to the propaganda certain posters claim is both true and a reflection of world opinion.

About said propaganda…

About those Ukrainians kidnapped to Russia…

10 million refugees. UNHCR High Commissioner numbers, not from Ukrainian government.

Russia threatens Poland now, in case you missed it.

Just look at that traitor to Russia! Roll Eyes

The Glorious Actions of the Anti-Western Liberation Forces!

If anyone is still defending Russia on “both sides” or “what about” or “but muh Soviet support for this or that liberation group” grounds after reading this, go fuck off and die.

Anyone who is accepting or trying to justify  what Putin is doing needs Jesus Christ.

Too many Twitter stories in the same post brah. It makes reading the thread on a phone near impossible.

Don't want to get all Dostoyevskian on you guys, but Vladimir Putin is a very nasty piece of work.

I just have a feeling (from watching bad guys like Slobodan Milosevic) that Vladimir is going to get nasty with some of his larger weapons before this gets any better.

This is rapidly turning into a Bosnian War style disaster at the doorstep of Europe.

So much disinfo and wishcasting. It's okay to condemn Russia but let's be honest about this situation.

90% of this thread is misinformation as it is gathered from total misinformation from Twitter.......followed by 10% wishcasting. Interesting choice of word, but it fits well.

You are spot on.

I would not suggest reporting on any war has ever been any different.

Biden now saying he knows what will shut down Putin. Here we go. Biden starting to walk onto the stage and get his plums out.

This is really the defining moment of Biden's Presidency.

I am hoping that pressure from the USA will force Putin to relax, Russia withdraws and we go back to normal.

Biden really walking a high wire act now.

It's hard to listen to the teenage refugees coming out of Mariupol. It was just sad listening to what the 17 y.o. on the news just said.

A real tragedy.

This is what was/is being done with Starstreak MANPADS.

I am really scared about the proposition of typing "Starstreak Manpads" into Google.

These Muscovites could have kept their heads down but chose not to, and that takes comparable courage IMO.

Bernie Sanders said he admired the courageous people of Moscow who risk their own livelihood to protest this war.

It has now gone to a new level of grotesque.

Story about Moldova student Angelina Botushan.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-04-07/why-moldova-is-contemplating-vladimir-putin-next-move/100946336

"Angelina Botushan, who is studying winemaking, said she hoped her country's strengthening ties with Europe would bring her new opportunities, in both work and life.

"The more elderly part of society thinks we should preserve ties with Russia," she said.

"But the younger generation thinks differently and supports moves towards the West.

"I see my future there."

Bushmasters are excellent all terrain vehicles and can withstand a direct hit from an RPG or mines.

Australia has now committed these top class vehicles and $100M cash to halt the Russian advance.

We painted the Ukrainian flag on them at the personal request of the Zelensky guy.

Another pro-Russian post from you, surprise.

I actually found this retired General on CNN more informative than a thread full of batsh**t crazy Twitter celebrations of misinterpreted meaninglessness whilst 1,000's of Ukrainians lose their lives daily.

It's not pro-Russian. Just trying to get an accurate read on where this is going without the horrendous bias the media puts on everything.

People are getting minced here.
