Excuse me for being behind but who is Buckley?

Chairman of the NH Democratic Party. Was my second favorite guy in the race before he dropped out.

Am I the only one who likes Perez, Ellison, and Buttigieg, and thinks any of the three would do a fine job?
They're all fine, and I wish people wouldn't be freaking out so much over what is a pretty meaningless position in the grand scheme of things. I think the DNC should probably elect Ellison just to throw the Bernie folks a bone and keep the focus on Trump and the Republicans instead of divisions within the party.

All three are honestly wasted on the DNC Chair.  Should just be a random party bureaucrat. Don't need to waste any of our rising stars on it.

The last "random party bureaucrat" was Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The party doesn't need another one.

Hearing rumors about a whip count around 200 for Ellison.

Thank goodness. Lewis was one of the major players in the Clinton wing during the primaries, so his endorsement of Ellison should help a lot
I doubt it moves many Clinton people. They'll probably just see it as Lewis endorsing the black candidate.

Good, they'd be showing their overt racism that way. -_-

Among 240 DNC members surveyed, Ellison has a 48-delegate lead over Perez. 105-57.

I'm wondering if the CNN debate tonight will have any effect on this race.

Who are these idiots in the DNC backing Brown over Buttigieg? Just, wtf.

To be fair, it is the DNC.

It honestly boggles me why they think Perez is best suited for DNC Chair. In Minnesota, there's no more statewide Republicans, and Ellison has won every election since 2004. Perez's highest level of elected office is county council.

Surveys from Politico and The Hill imply an Ellison lead, while AP's count has many more DNC members accounted for and is probably more accurate. Many Perez people are going to take advantage of the secret ballot.

I believe the AP estimate didn't actually survey DNC members, and the numbers came from an "unnamed source". So I trust Politico and The Hill because there's actual communication with voters there.

This is absolutely infuriating. The establishment can't even make ONE concession to the Bernie people. Instead, they need to push their pick through backroom deals, DESPITE the fact Ellison and Buttigieg have far more public support, DESPITE the fact that Ellison has more experience actually winning elections, DESPITE the fact this newfound enthusiasm on the left has come from the progressive wing and not the Obama/Hillary centrist faction.

Screw the DNC. They have no idea what they're doing. They'd rather go against the grain to rebel against "those evil BernieBros" instead of actually win elections. I hope they have enough sense to see where the real change is occurring and vote for Ellison or Buttigieg, but that's looking less and less likely every day.

Well, the priority then was funneling money toward his and then HRC's presidential campaigns, and the priority now is funneling donor money toward the foundation. Perez should be great at that - a "progressive who gets things done." Who cares about winning piddling local elections? Let them eat fentanyl.

There's something absolutely terrifying about this mentality that's pervasive among Dems. Perez isn't going to stop the overflow of corporate money into the DNC; Ellison is.

This is why Dems are quickly becoming a coastal party, and will continue if there isn't a shift towards social democracy and progressivism. They aren't willing to sacrifice their corporate donations. They've turned away from the support of unions and liberal organizations, and have become completely reliant on corporations to fund campaigns. That's not only proven to be unsuccessful in local elections during the Obama years, it's extremely dangerous in this era of Trump to lose elections. But because supporting progressive policies, like getting big money out of campaigns, cuts into their bottom line, they aren't willing to make that change. And that's a terrible philosophy of party politics, because not only does that show they didn't learn ANYTHING, they are actively trying to fight new party energy.

There's no focus on change, or any real accounting for the middle and working class. They only want to change how they "message" their terrible economic policies to workers.

I think regardless of whether Perez or Ellison become DNC chair, you're going to see the Democratic Party being pulled to the left by former Bernie supporters, progressives and activists. What I'm seeing in states like California is absolutely encouraging. They are out-organizing everyone else within the party structure, and regardless of whatever the consultants and lobbyists in the Washington bubble have in mind for the party, soon they're going to have to answer to far more progressive state parties.

Speaking of which, if Ellison remains in the House if he loses this race, I absolutely support him for House Minority Leader in 2018.

Weaver and Mook were just on MSNBC discussing the DNC election, and it's scary how out of touch with reality Mook is.

Weaver was pleading the case that the DNC needs to elect Ellison as DNC chair in order to unify the Democratic party. He also said that electing Perez would send the wrong message to progressives, and that it could fracture the Democratic party. Mook, on the other hand, was arguing that the Democratic party was already united and spewed the same canned line that "any of these candidates would be a good pick for DNC Chair."

I'll say it one more time. Electing Perez as DNC chair would be an unmitigated disaster, and it scares me that most Democratic officials can't see this.

Robby Mook needs to go away forever. In fact, he should be laughed off every national campaign going into the future.

It's like some Democrats are still living in July 2016 when Hillary was inevitable and all those evil Berniebros needed to shut up to stop Trump.

Ellison apparently has received support from every voting member in Minnesota, Nebraska, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and Vermont, along with the majority of DNC voters from Texas and California.

Also, does anybody have a list of all the voting DNC members?

Alan Dershowitz threatens to quit the Democratic Party if Keith Ellison is elected DNC Chair.  Despite this, I still would prefer Tom Perez over Keith Ellison.

Why should anybody care about what that old f--k has to say?

They outraised Trump 2 to 1 in 2016.

Corporate money doesn't matter. Glad to see they still value corporations over small contributions, though. Keep on, DNC! Smiley

Ellison nominating speeches coming now. Lots of applause, but unclear how much is coming from nonvoters.

Hopefully that enthusiasm translates into votes.

Well, he is the unity candidate. Wink

The Obama-Clinton wing are going to run this party into the ground.

The Bernie wing will steal it from them before they can do that.
