First of all, great timeline.  I can actually see this happening.  Hope you continue with it.

Does Trump suffer legal consequences for his actions now that he is a private citizen, especially given he is leaving office before the statute of limitations runs out?

Harris/Buttigieg 2024!

Would certainly help shore up Ohio and Iowa.

If that is the criteria, then I prefer Governor Gretchen Whitmer (by then a two-termer) for veep personally.

Why him?  Why not Governor Whitmer?

Oct. 13, 2024: Scandal on Harris' record as prosecutor and Attorney General resurfaces

Wikimedia Commons

Breaking News. A lot of new information has come out about Harris' record as a prosecutor in San Francisco and Attorney General of California have just came out. Harris was very tough on crime and often would not presume innocence on defendants both as a prosecutor and the highest law enforcer in the largest state in the United States, California. It came out during the Democratic primary in late 2019 that Harris was very tough on crime, but not much information came out about it at the time. More has just come out. Harris would try to keep a wide range of convicted individuals behind bars rather than allowing them new and fair trials. Harris kept individuals in jail when new evidence showed that those might have actually been innocent. Reports and testimonies have shown that Harris would not ask for all possible evidence in a trial. Harris' record is very controversial and this is likely to hurt her in the general election in three weeks on November 5th.

This timeline is now looking quite unlikely.  Biden's vetting team (in real life) would spot any such scandals from a mile away, and with greater access to that information than any muckraking journalist.  And I highly doubt Trump or Pence's minions in 2020 would let juicy morsels like this slip by them.
