Will America survive Trump?

Will the country still exist? Yes. Will our system of government be recognizable compared to what it was before Trump was elected? That's a lot less certain. My greatest fear with Trump has always been, and continues to be, that he will try to establish an illiberal democracy like what Orban has done in Hungary or Putin has done in Russia - where they still have elections, but the government abuses its authority to make sure those elections are no longer free or fair. If he's still president in 2020 (likely, given how the Republican party is becoming more of a cult every day) I would be stunned if he doesn't try to order an unfounded criminal investigation into the Democratic nominee.
