Fairly typical for a Republican:
Scott’s proposal is simple and entirely unworkable. His Help America Vote Act of 2020 would require that mail-in ballots be counted within 24 hours of when voting closes on Election Day. Scott’s proposed legislation would also prevent mail-in ballots received prior to Election Day from being processed and counted until the morning of Nov. 3
Typical as in, shows utter disregard for the idea of democracy and knowingly makes unrealistic demands, because that's the point.
If you want to know the result on election night, then you need to allow & fund a massive expansion of workers and equipment to process all those ballots, and allow at least some pre-processing many days ahead of time, not only to prepare but to allow clerks to contact voters who have ballots with signature or other issues. And this is assuming we're going to force states to throw out all late-arriving (but postmarked by e-day) ballots.
Simply put, Republicans, if you want to know the results sooner, stop being so stingy with funding and unreasonably strict with the processing rules.
