Demographics. As a New Englander, there are two types of Republicans here. The John Kasich type, who are traditional Republicans with moderate social views, and the Donald Trump type, the very self-centered Republicans who are successful in their own right. There aren't really any religious people up here, hence, little support for Cruz. Also, people up here are very, very media consuming, so Trump is a likely person to attract voters.
