Henry Wallace for President:

”...Hello my fellow Americans. I’ve learned a lot of things over the years from public office, from trying my very best to serve for this wonderful country we have. It’s occurred to me we have a lot of problems. Sure, we may have won the War, but back home is where my focus is right now. It’s where my eye goes to. Whether it be the housing conditions here, a horrific health crisis, a housing crisis, where other human beings in our own country are simply being hated and killed for the color of their skin. The President of the United States isn’t listening to the American people and we are in a state of horrifically hard times! And to my opponents who are calling me a “communist sympathizer” because I believe the American common people who can not help themselves should receive recognition and help, well you’re not the brightest that’s for damn sure. I’m very well aware that our country is the greatest, but we have serious problems to deal with and tackle here. But even on the foreign policy side, oh boy. President Truman isn’t very bright on those either. I don’t even need to discuss his bad policies, you already know them. Over the coming days, I shall campaign and give outlined policy speeches to help deal with our problems. I’m experienced enough to bring Change to Washington, and Change to America! The truth from my experience is... neither major party cares about you, the American common man. They only care about one thing: power. I plan to take that power away from them next year. That’s why I am announcing my bid for President on a third party, progressive ticket! Thank you all, I love you and God bless America!!!”

*Crowd begins cheering Henry for President*

In the first week of his announcement, Henry Wallace traveled to Minnesota and North Dakota and campaigned hard there, with a few thousand members of a whole farming community turning out to listen to him speak about agriculture subsidies. George Wallace finished up by going to Washington to campaign.
