Okay, I am no longer worried. Perez did what HRC never did: he extended an olive branch to the other wing of the party the first chance he got.

HRC did do that, but whatever. Anyways, it's a symbolic move, but this whole thing is in nature, so good showing by Perez and Ellison.

That's not an olive branch. This is the Establishment saying "this is OUR party, here, have a candy and f**k off". No one is getting fooled.

You are overreacting more than I expected. Did you see what Donna Brazille was doing today? DNC chair is one of the most boring, procedural jobs out there, and threatening to burn down the party because Ellison lost by a quite narrow margin is really one of your sadder developments. Perez will do fine and Ellison will have his ear throughout.

Democratic registration just went down 10 percentage points.

Good one. Rank-and-file Democrats don't care that much about this.

Electoral strategizing is, in fact, the main thing that there's reason to believe Perez will be non-trivially worse at.

How so? Over the course of the "campaign", Perez and Ellison held remarkably similar ideas on how the DNC should move forward and crafting messages across the country. Ellison focused on energizing the base more, sure, but Perez emphasized the importance of voter rights in this tumultuous time where they're in grave danger. Making sure people are able to vote is an important electoral strategy in my opinion.

It's also important to realize that the DNC chair might provide a vision for how the party should go, but the position is much more about fundraising and Sunday talk shows than anything else.
