I have heard that Gary, Indiana, was over 90% for Kerry.

The city is 84% black, as well as being in Chicagoland.

The strange thing about Indiana is the way it sticks out like a sore thumb a lot of the time.  Just look at the 1992 and 1996 national election maps for instance.

One other funny thing I noticed is that Dick Lugar, the invincible incumbent, failed to unseat former Senator Birch Bayh in 1974, and yet the well-meaning idiot Dan Quayle succeeded in doing the same in 1980.
