I zoned out 2/3rds of the way through but the overall impression I got was "catastrophic".

Why do people think this is a speech that will help Trump?

It was too long.
Trump's register was strained and ultra-negative. In his rallies he can improvise with levity, but that was completely lacking.
The issues he focused on (crime???) are not going to win over swing-voters.

I honestly think he lost the election tonight.
