Republicans will end up getting more than a combined 18% of the vote. In 2012, polling for the open primary showed Republicans getting 23% of the vote; they received 39% on primary day. Whomever is the leading Republican candidate going into the primary (almost certainly Rocky Chavez) will receive at least a plurality of that, meaning Sanchez has to be safely in the mid 20s to be assured of a runoff spot.
