I voted for Thurmond (could have been any of the 5 segregationists tbh), but I'm reconsidering my vote. I've read Atlas Shrugged and I actually liked it (even though Rand probably isn't the most talented writer, and the Übermensch thing was a bit creepy), but Rand herself made some deplorable comments about disabled and "subnormal" children. I think overall Rand had a positive influence on the world, but that mainly is because people didn't literally follow her philosophy. She loathed Reagan and Thatcher, and I'm glad no actual objectivist got in a position of power. For this she probably would have denounced me as a naive far-left dreamer or something like that, but whatever
