Is there a live whip list anywhere online? I'm looking to see if Maria Cantwell has said anything on either impeachment or the 25th amendment, and I'm not seeing it on her social media.

Patty Murray joins to her 11 colleagues

So, now 12 Senators and 107 Representatives support impeachment

I just emailed Maria Cantwell. Usually my elected officials get out on issues like this more quickly than it takes me to pull up their website and send them an email. Glad I went with Cantwell first. Tongue

David Nir's list now has the House number at 118 in favor of impeachment/removal. That's 27% of the House and 54% of the number necessary to impeach.

We should be at over 200 reps by now, I am kind of disappointed in Democratic reps. The time for action is now, while this event is still fresh on voter's minds.

To be fair, many are probably just waiting 'til the end of the day to show that they gave the Cabinet time to act responsibly. If they don't, though, then Congress will step in.

Yeah, if Lincoln can wait overnight to sign the Emancipation Proclamation because he didn't want people to remember his hand being unsteady when he signed it, we can give Congress a day or so to mull things over and not be remembered as acting impulsively.

David Nir's count is now at 123 in the House. It looks like the most recent entries are Linda Sanchez (D-CA), Kathy Castor (D-FL), Andy Levin (D-MI), Susie Lee (D-NY), Jerry Nadler (D-NY), Mike Doyle (D-PA), Joaquin Castro (D-TX) and Sylvia Garcia (D-TX). That brings us to 28% of the House and 56% of the number required for impeachment.*

*Although given the vacancies, I'm not sure if the number required for impeachment in the house is still 218 or if it's less.

New names to add to the impeachment whip count in the House:

Greg Stanton AZ-9
Mike Thompson CA-5
Grace Napolitano CA-32

Now at 133 in the House and 17 in the Senate.

Have any congressional Republicans actually officially stated their opposition to impeachment/conviction? It's a little surprised that I haven't seen an iota of pushback yet, although I suppose they may just not want to offer anything that resembles a defense of Trump immediately in the wake of yesterday's happenings.

None officially, but I can't imagine Mo Brooks will vote for impeachment if this is his current narrative of yesterday:

So just get off this ‘divide the country more/ bs. You don’t fix something like this by reaching out to these people, you have to establish hard boundaries.

Yes. The question of dividing the country is solely whether Trump's remaining lackeys want to go down with the ship or unite with the vast majority of Americans who see the attempted insurrection as what it was.

FWIW, David Nir's whip count has just hit 218 in favor of impeachment. That's a majority of the House.

The Senate should vote for Trump to have lifetime Secret Service protection in line with any ex-president. If anything, he needs it even more than most ex-presidents.

Since Trump claims to be so phenomenally wealthy, maybe they can make a Secret Service detail available to him, but only if he foots the bill himself and pays it in advance.

Notice that McConnellworld is pushing "removal from office," not just "conviction." Could be a clue:

Gotta hurry.

Well thank you Marjorie Taylor Greene for letting me know that Democrats want to take our guns. I'm glad that was something that was worth your time on this important day.
