I've always thought the phrase "government shutdown" promises more than it delivers. I expect to walk outside and for it to be like The Purge or something.

If anything, the "media mafia" needs to blackmail even more Redditors and 4channers, so they're too busy coming up with "retaliation" threats to actually do anything about it.

If all you tough guys REALLY believe this... then will you go post these same statements over at 4Chan or cross post this thread over there?

If not, why not?
Or I could use my time in a more productive way on more useful websites, like trying to become MySpace famous in 2017.

Lots of good choices. Got to go with

Comparing allowing a patient with a terminal illness and their next of kin GIVING LEGAL CONSENT to end their life on their own terms to Nazi Germany?

The fact that you are so focused on the "killing" aspect and ignoring that there are real people who SUFFER from terminal illnesses with no hope for a cure shows how out of touch and uncaring you truly are about others. There are safeguards in the bill to prevent abuse of this, but I imagine your inability to read might make that somewhat difficult.

I dreamt that I got elected Governor of South Dakota in 2022, ending the GOP's 44-year-hold on that office, after unseating incumbent Governor Kristi Noem.

It started off with me obtaining the Democratic nomination because no one else ran for that.  I didn't think I had much of a chance against Noem, and I admitted that at my first public event.  Suddenly, South Dakota voters started appreciating my honesty.  Then I kept on coming across as some modest and decent outsider, with voters liking me more and more, causing the state GOP to become so petrified it couldn't fight back.

I'm not sure if this is mocking Ukraine's claim of Crimea as its territory, but I kind of just like the post on its own without context.

It's why my Muslim friend is very eager to promote the 'festival' and communal aspects of his faith to converts rather than the textual or doctrinal aspects.

To get back to the subject of this thread, this is actually exactly why I think it's stupid to use muh birth control as the go-to example of American Catholics being "de facto Protestant". It's essentially the same litmus test of who's "really" Catholic that right-wing culture warrior Catholics use, only with different normative conclusions. Adherence to a difficult, poorly understood, almost uniquely unpopular doctrinal and moral stricture is certainly a measure of devotion, but I'm far from convinced that it's the best one, and it's definitely not the only traditional shibboleth between Catholicism and Protestantism that most American Catholics' mindsets fall closer to the Protestant side of. "Optional" attitudes towards Mass attendance and rife misunderstandings of what is and isn't a holy day of obligation are only one example of another such shibboleth.

I'm less than convinced that the scandal would have done her in, especially in California of all places. Garcia won by only 300 votes and Hill seems like an unambiguously stronger candidate than Smith was, plus she would have had an incumbency advantage.
