Abrams takes public lobbying for the VP job to new heights:

https://www.elle.com/culture/career-politics/a32132819/stacey-abrams-on-voting-rights-covid-19-and-being-vice-president/

Quote
Stacey Abrams does not give the expected answer when I ask if she would accept an offer from former vice president Joe Biden to serve as his 2020 running mate. “Yes. I would be honored,” Abrams says. “I would be an excellent running mate. I have the capacity to attract voters by motivating typically ignored communities. I have a strong history of executive and management experience in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. I’ve spent 25 years in independent study of foreign policy. I am ready to help advance an agenda of restoring America’s place in the world. If I am selected, I am prepared and excited to serve.”

"I would be an excellent running mate" isn't the expected answer to this question.

Ok, at first she was amusing. Now she has become obnoxious.
This makes her come off as desperate and thirsty.

Warren just said on Maddow that she would accept the VP spot if offered.

Please, Joe, if you have any sense, eliminate Warren or Abrams.

With Kim Jong-un either dead or on death's door, Biden's VP is going to need EXPERIENCE.  His VP list just got shorter.

Abrams pitches herself again. She wants to make sure Joe knows she'd be a great running mate. In case the first 25 messages didn't make it through.
OK, look. Saying "Yes I would take it" or "I would be honored to serve" is fine. Women should be clear and full throated about their ambition but this is THIRSTY. Especially when she is absolutely NOT qualified.
I think the Kim Jong-un news crossed her off the list automatically.

After Biden's little "incident" yesterday, I think we can rest assured that Bidenchar isn't happening.

It's amazing to me the collective freak out that I've seen on social media about the Klobuchar thing. You'd think that Biden just announced yesterday that she WAS the official VP pick. People don't seem to understand what vetting means.

But as others have said, even before yesterday, I always thought he would pick a woman of color for the VP, and I still think Kamala is it. She just makes sense.
Kamala has as much baggage with the black community as Amy does though. Literally any other black woman would be better.
"Baggage" with black Twitter accounts =/= baggage with rank-and-file black voters.

It's Harris, Demings, or Duckworth.

Harris' messaging on criminal justice and policing reforms this morning has solidified herself as VP, IMO.

I'm still fully expecting Harris, seeing as Biden has benefited from playing safe at every turn. Even despite her potential baggage and her failure in the primary (which was true of Biden at one point!) she'd still generate a fawning response from the media and the Democratic base for multiple reasons (first black woman on a ticket! immensely qualified! will hold the Trump admonistration accountable!) and that may outweigh all the negatives.

This. All she needs is a few good moments when she's questioning conservatives like when she ripped apart Barr and Kavanaugh

She comes off as way too aggressive. That’s a problem for Biden.
Wow. I can’t.
If anything, WARREN is the one who comes off as too aggressive.  She's got a personality and style that's somewhat of a turn-off.

Biden's doing quite well in closing the gap with Trump with male voters.  Warren would definitely widen it again.

Yeah, Warren is just too much of a risk.

Read up on Tribegate on Twitter.  It's a sneak preview of what a Biden/Warren ticket would entail.

Not to mention picking a geriatric white woman to run with a geriatric white man would be tone-deaf in a post-Floyd era.

Looks like Harris isn't the only one raking in large amounts for Biden, unsurprisingly. Go Warren!

Yeah the idea of picking Harris because of her donor base is extremely stupid. Biden doesn’t need to attract large donors, he needs small ones. He was routinely outraised by Bernie & Warren in the primaries. Picking Warren would activate her donor list and get them to contribute, something I haven’t done yet myself.
Warren raised this much money with a few hundred people.  Harris raised $3.5 million with about 1400 people.  If you do basic long division, Harris attracts more donors and the per donor amount is smaller.

It also exposes Warren's abject hypocrisy in going after Pete for his allegedly extravagant fundraisers.

It isn't that Kamala is the worst idea, I just believe Biden has better options including women of color. Demings would absolutely be a plus for all but the far lefties (Kamala will do no better here). Lujan Grisham isn't high profile but her background in public health, Congress and as Governor would be ideal. Duckworth also as a war hero has a more compelling story.

I just don't see how Kamala resonates with people. Her career is all insider, coastal politics and is heavily focused on social issues as opposed to economic ones. If unemployment is 10% and student debt is even worse in 2022, you can guarantee average voters will turn on this type of party.

This. Worst, this sets up the direction of Democratic politics for the rest of the decade. You have to look past one election. Her getting picked would be a disaster for the country, but this is the current timeline, which is of course why Biden will pick her.

Exactly. The concern is that the economy is slow to recover for people making less than 200K a year but those with fancy degrees in NY, DC, SF enjoy her version of politically correct liberalism while the rest of America burns. Another decade of low wages and more student debt/people not purchasing homes might truly set up another Great Depression that lasts longer than the current COVID shutdown. Harris donors will not push back against globalization whatsoever even if most Americans are tired of a tax code that benefits multinational corporations.

I remember a time when everyone said Obama was too much of an urban latte liberal to win in the Heartland and in the Southeast.

Ugh, that blowhard John Morgan is back on the scene?  Has he threatened to leave the Democratic Party again?
