Interesting subject!

While I am not the ideal candidate, I would hope that Jmfcst, in my opinion one of the most intolerant and divisive people on the forum, could not win such an election.

Dude, I would probably even win in D.C. over you.

Um, no you wouldn't.  You're either joking or deluded if you think that.

I grew up in neighborhood that was 98% black.  I share their social views and certain lifestyles are even more taboo among blacks than with me.  I could go into the black churches and preach from their pulpits and win the backing of a vast majority of black pastors.

I would remind the black community that racist whites are trying to rewrite history by saying the Civil War wasn't fought over slavery.  I would campaign with Bill Cosby on my side.

I would win the Catholic vote 3-1 since I am more Catholic than afleitch.  I would tell them that I don't just occupy a space on a pew, I live the word.

I would win the Jewish vote 2-1 since I am a HUGE supporter of Israel.

I would spend 75% of my campaign stops talking to hispanics, blacks, and jews.  And of course, I would win the white vote.

It would be easier for me to win D.C. than to win Vermont!

Catholic voters, and the Church itself are very turned off by rampant evangelism. Most Catholics often share more liberal attititudes than their Church (except over the issie of abortion perhaps)

I am certain you would not win the Jewish vote either my deluded friend!

Don't kid yourself, homosexuality is less popular among Catholics than abortion.

I would win everything south and west of New York, including D.C.  I would win NH and probably NY.  And I would let the chips fall where they may in VT, ME,and Mass.

I would alienate the rednecks in the South, yet still carry the South 80%-20%.  I would remind the blacks that the GOP began as a moral movement.

LOL! Well at least we know you didn't study much history!

Yet you would still vote for me.  That is my point.  I would alienate the South to win the black vote and STILL easily carry the South.

Like Utah, turnout would be rock-bottom, though.

You seem to forget that the social views of this forum are NOT in sync with the social views of the electorate.  Mine are.

I agree. But that's what happens when you live in a bubble. You loose contact with reality.

I think 19 out of 19 states is "reality" enough for me to know where America stands on the issue of your "lifestyle", regardless of the "reality" of opinion on this forum.

That was in the issue of gay marriage- I dont even support gay marriage! But then you never bothered to find out did you Smiley

Dude, if they didn't vote for gay marriage, they ain't gonna vote for you.  Maybe in Mass or San Fran or Vermont, but you'd lose 47+ states.  You'd lose CA.

How many openly homosexual pols hold statewide office in the US?

Give me a break.

Ignoring the chaff there, my point was that Utah would face a choice between a gay libertarian and an evangecial who believes their religion is a cult.

Gee, I would think it is obvious to Mormons that non-Mormons believe Joseph Smith was a FALSE prophet, otherwise non-Mormons would convert to Mormonism.

No jmfcst, give me a break for once and stop jumping to conclusions about me. Agreed? Smiley Maybe if you listened to people before you started ranting about them or pre-judging them you wouldn't be such a social pariah on this forum.

You mean you're not really a flaming homosexual?

Dude, if they didn't vote for gay marriage, they ain't gonna vote for you.

Many people would vote against gay marriage, but it would have nothing to do with them being gay.  A significant number of gay people themselves would vote against it (ex. Richius).

Then name openly gays holding statewide office in the US?

What's the definition of a "flaming homosexual" as opposed to a homosexual that is not flaming anyways? Is there one? Huh I doubt it.

in the closet = non-flamer
out of closet = flamer

That's because they didn't have the advantage of having to run against you. Grin
Don't like that line? What statewide offices have you been elected to in the US?

There are MANY social conservatives holding state wide office that view it as a sin.

Incorrect.  The common meaning of the word 'flaming' in this context is a guy who is flamboyantly gay and/or effeminate.  There are many 'butch' gay guys, for example.  And just normal gay guys too.

OK, I didn't know there was an official definition for the term.  I guess I haven't heard it used enough to have grasped its meaning.

afleitch/jmfcst

America wouldn't elect a gay president.

Don't underestimate America's quick slide into immorality.  America pretty much already embraces fornication.  Homosexuality won't be far behind.

There is a reason why Lot being surrounded by homosexuals in Sodom is a picture of the end times.

afleitch could be elected president 10-20 years from now

And what a happy day that would be. The USA being mature and open minded enough to elect someone regardless of their sexuality Smiley

And I am sure Sodom was also perverted, I mean "open minded".
