Plenty of people wore green at my conservative evangelical Protestant church in the South.  In no reasonable context is wearing green on St. Patrick's Day an endorsement of Catholicism.  I don't really care about the day, but I even wore a green polo.

If so that contradicts an Atlas narrative that people of Irish descent almost NEVER convert to Protestant and that Catholicism is basically a race, not a chosen characteristic.
Gully Foyle is an Irish protestant.
He also once said that if you belong to any religion different from your parents or "perhaps your spouse" that's a bad thing, LOL.

And what are the odds that many people at church are of Irish Protestant ancestry? There's not many Irish in the state anyway (although to be fair the church is in St. Paul, one of the few areas that did have notable Irish settlement.)

I'm actually of mixed Irish Protestant-Irish Catholic ancestry, but that has nothing to do with why most people would wear green.  Your actual ancestry isn't something most people are considering at all when wearing green on St. Patrick's Day.  I hate the term "cultural appropriation" (largely because I don't view it as a bad thing), but that's basically what it is.  No different than wearing a sombrero on Cinco de Mayo.
