Polls close at 6 PM EST for eastern kentucky, 7 PM EST for western kentucky

AP Results here - http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/files/elections/2015/by_state/MS_Page_1103.html?SITE=AP&SECTION=POLITICS

AOS will have coverage of the gubernatorial race only.

What's AOS, and will there be any TV coverage of it?  Some of the Nashville stations cover small portions of Kentucky, so maybe some local coverage?

Does anyone have any insight to counties we should be looking at?  I wish there were TV coverage of this.

Conway shown up by 4% in Jefferson Co - that means healthy Dem surge should accompany 6CT close in GOP Western KY

Jefferson County is Louisville, right?  If so, that's not bad for Bevin at all.

One partisan race left.  How is Andy Beshear related to Steve?

Supreme court race is called:

Supreme Court - District 7 - General
509 of 514 Precincts Reporting - 99%
Name   Party   Votes   Vote %
Wright, Sam   NP   40,197   52% WINNER
Stumbo, Janet   NP   37,231   48%

Attorney General - General
3435 of 3697 Precincts Reporting - 93%
Name   Party   Votes   Vote %
Beshear, Andy   Dem   450,541   50%
Westerfield, Whitney   GOP   442,883   50%

Were there a de facto Republican and de facto Democrat in this race?

Beshear 454,672
Westerfield 448,187

3475/3697 in

The biggest county that appears to be mostly out is McCracken (Paducah).  Westerfield won the vote that's in with 0% reporting (presumably, early vote) 58-42.  The other counties that are totally out are rural Muhlenburg, Simpson and Ohio counties in the west and Bell county in the east.

My guess is there's not enough ground for Westerfield to make up the difference here.  Beshear likely wins - narrowly.

What is the recount policy in Kentucky?

KY votes more like TN now, than its Appalachian counterparts. Dems are no longer electable in KY, statewide, but in local elections.

It appears to be trending that way, but it hasn't fallen to Tennessee levels quite yet.

It has potential to fall significantly further than Tennessee.  Louisville isn't Memphis.  Wouldn't be surprised at all if KY/WV/AR are voting consistently 70% R in federal races in the 2020's.  Also, Manchin now needs a miracle, or a Republican president with 30% approval.

It might be time for Manchin to consider a party switch- he could probably survive in West Virginia if he ran as a Republican (don't know if they would try to primary him).

How the f*** did Conway manage to win Rowan County?

It has a state university and doesn't mine coal.

In Kentucky, young voters are the most Republican.
