Good messaging from the Warnock campaign. Better than Walker campaign, at least.

Walker is the most competent Republican Senate candidate this entire cycle...no contest.

Dr. Oz likes to have a word with you.
Oz is in a very close second. He has a miracle cure on hand that will put him in the polling lead any day now! He's waiting to prescribe it to himself at the right time, for maximum effectiveness!

Anyway, all this is a joke. I was sarcastically calling Walker ultra-competent.
I guess we were bound to have one really bad swing-seat campaign this year on either side...Walker is just doing well.

In a place as polarized as Georgia, how many votes could something like this actually move?

Alaska is much more elastic than Georgia is.

Oh.
That's still  something of an apples and oranges.
First of all, PA is just as elastic as the nation as a whole. Not the same as GA...
Also, primary=/=general; those are different in dynamics. Not that it won't have an impact, but it won't be the same.

Not sure if others feel the same way, but I do think one thing that makes it difficult to for me to support Walker despite not loving the Dems' agenda is that I literally find it hard to understand and follow his thinking and speech. He seems to have half-formed "opinions" on substantive topics without really being able to articulate why those are the right policies and how those opinions (translated into policies) would lead to a better quality of life for Georgians. It just creates an overall impression for me that he's not really a serious candidate for Senator, which in turn makes it seem like Warnock is the safer choice.

Good to see you back!  It's been a while.
I'd like to be redouble those sentiments.
It's nice to hear from a local and a swing voter, to boot.

LMAO so wait after all those weird videos of Walker saying that Warnock was too scared... Walker is just not gonna show up?

Hope they have an empty podium for him.
Yeah. They should.
Walker's rhetoric on debates really seems to be an attempt at hide what really is all bark and no bite. Goes back to the amateurism issue...

Appreciate it and good to see so many familiar faces still on here! i usually tune into politics for 3 months every 2 years and try to focus on other things when it's not election season to preserve my sanity Smiley.
Best of luck in your life, man!
It's interesting to hear from you.

Republicans keep trying to copy the Trump magic. It is a model that works with Trump, but to think anyone could do it if they just say the right talking points is so hubristic.

Reporter: You said that if this did happen, there's nothing to be ashamed of.

Walker: Wait, I never said it.

Reporter: You said it this morning on Hugh Hewitt's show.

Republicans should cut Walker loose at this point, but they will not. Many of them are doubling down on their support for him, as they see Walker as a reliable vote for their policy priorities. This is precisely the reason why Trump overwhelmingly won the white evangelical vote, and the votes of most Republicans who did not like him personally.

They believed that policy was more important than morality. And this is why Walker will still garner ~45% or more of the vote in Georgia, and why the race could still be headed to a runoff. Why would a Republican voter abandon Walker for this scandal when they see Warnock and Democrats as promoting abortion on demand with taxpayer dollars?

This kind of goes to show that many of the most annoying pro-lifers like baseballcrank and his ilk at the National Review/Federalist are straight up lying when they say they think abortion is murdering a baby. I should know, I know many people who genuinely believe this. Like, I believe they think it's bad, but it is simply not the case that they genuinely believe that a zygote is equivalent to a baby.

The reason I know this is that they find it exceedingly easy to vote for someone who they ostensibly believe financed the murder of his infant child and is pretty transparently not repentant. Like, you can justify it if you believe that Warnock will kill more babies indirectly, but none of them seem particularly concerned about wrestling with this at all. I mean, check out this quote from David Harsanyi for the Federalist:

"Without the slightest hesitation, I would support a sociopathic constitutionalist, prone to debauchery and lying, over a chaste family man who believes in a collectivist or authoritarian philosophy. The latter’s bad ideas have generational consequences. I don’t care if he takes his kids to soccer practice every day."

This is the type of argument you make to justify, like, voting for Bob Menendez despite his corruption or voting for David Vitter despite his soliciting a prostitute. Comparing infanticide to not taking your kids to soccer practice is completely insane if, in fact, you genuinely believe that abortion is murder, which Harsanyi does not, no matter what he says or even thinks.
It's a legitimate frame of view if you separate the behavior of candidates from matters of policy and how policies are likely to be impacted by the election of one candidate vs another.
How many Democrats would vote for a congressional candidate if they knew it would decide the fate of Roe vs Wade? Irrespective of their personal flaws...

One problem that Republicans have is that nobody under age 50 actually remembers the fabulous games he played as a running back with Georgia. It's not like it's Todd Gurley on the ballot.
Especially not the transplants who have moved to Georgia over the past 20 years.

Is there a point where we put this in the Roy Moore tier of campaign implosions?
Let's see some polls first. It's a very real possibility...

I could care less if Warnock's church tried to evict people. Some people deserved to be evicted!

I did not watch the debate but have seen some claim that walker may have done better than expected Yet when I got on twitter the first thing I see is a clip of him pulling out a prop batch and claiming to be a cop lol

It's hands down one the silliest things that I have ever seen at any debate and honesty walker better hope that moment does not get more traction in the media because I can easily see it overshadowing anything else he did in that debate..
The media loves a little controversy and spectacle. I'd be mildly surprised if this gets no traction.

I'm sorry - what is Herschel Walker's "record on fighting crime"? He certainly has a record WITH crime, that's for sure.

Clearly not only are pundits brains fried but so are Walker's teams

Herschel Walker has such a great record with law enforcement. They simulated a threatened shootout situation! Walker always here for the cops and helping train the cops. God bless you Herschel. Bless his heart...

Hmm.

Yet another "privately in public" prognosis from Schumer that we always seem to get.

(*whispers* He's right though)

Right on all of it, or just Georgia?
Parts of it could have been "privately in public" and parts of it could have been sincere. We don't know.

Polling update: My wife got a call from the Georgia Opinion Survey (?) to complete a poll of the GA senate race today, so we’ll finally get at leeeeast one poll of the race this week. The name of the company doesn’t sound familiar to me though. Anyone else heard of them?

Based original username btw

He does this to himself?
Well, what can I say? Walker clearly flatlined in his personal self-improvement after he stopped appearing on Celebrity Apprentice.
