Honestly, this is the stupidest idea in the 2018 Senate election. Why do the Justice Dems, Berniecrats, and others like them, think that Paula Jean Swearengin can outprimary Joe Manchin (very difficult) and win the general (Shiva Ayyadurai defeating Elizabeth Warren is more likely)? For one, West Virginia is one of the most conservative states in the country. Hillary Clinton got about 26% of the popular vote in the most recent presidential election, not to mention their Democratic governor acts like a Republican.

So, I guess this is where I get so baffled, but if Joe Manchin is outprimaried, why does the far-left want this so badly? Running an SJW in a far-right state is a great way to give the GOP another seat. Why not run someone like her in California? At least there she'd have a decent chance at winning.
the uber-left-wing of the Dem party isn't always sensible. They focus too much on targeting established incumbents instead of going after deep blue seats where they would easily have an audience.

*snip*

Moreover, Manchin is essentially a Republican.

Look, you can think that all you want, but the fact is that if we'd run a liberal instead of Manchin for this seat last time around, the skinny repeal bill would've passed the Senate even with McCain.  Last night's vote is a perfect example of why your claim that Manchin is basically a Republican is ridiculous.  We saw how the "moderate" WV Republican Senator voted.  Manchin is there when we really need his vote and that's what matters.

Jenkins has a new ad out, trying to make the Senate race about Hillary Clinton and throwing in some strong dog-whistles in there too and how liberals will 'take our guns'.

Ok Rs can bash Dem places as crime riddled and drug infested but not the other way around. Can you imagine a Dem candidate running an ad like this? And what Hillary said is nothing compared to what Jenkins is doing it’s far worse.

You’re forgetting that Rs are Real Americanstm
Detroit is Fake America, filled with lots of lazy bum hobo blacks who rely on government handouts.
It's time they learned some self-responsibility and got a job. Also, they need to start paying income tax.

Joe Manchin is one sorry motherf***er. Congratulations on selling your soul to win an election.

What else would you have expected? At this point, it's pretty clear to me that the Democratic Party wants all of its candidates to be in step with every element of the national agenda. Such an agenda will not help them recover the ground that they have lost in places like West Virginia.

Then what is the point having a Democrat (vs letting a Republican win) if the end result vote is going to be the same almost 100% of the time?
