Not a reliable source in the slightest, but it doesn't surprise me to hear elsewhere that the staff is jumping ship

Here's a reliable source: https://news.yahoo.com/cuomos-offices-deserted-staffers-stop-142710438.html

It looks like Governor Cuomo is safe, for now:

Siena poll: Just 35 percent of New York voters want Cuomo to resign

Quote
Most New York voters are satisfied with Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s explanation of the sexual harassment allegations made against him and barely a third want him to resign, a Siena College Research Institute poll released Monday morning found.

The governor’s overall popularity has taken a hit over the past month, however. Only 43 percent of New Yorkers now view him favorably, while 45 percent view him unfavorably.

“Voters appear to be able to compartmentalize how they feel about Cuomo,” Siena spokesperson Steve Greenberg said in a statement. “While their views on him generally — favorability, job performance, re-elect — took a significant hit this month, voters’ views on Cuomo’s handling of the pandemic remain largely positive, except for his handling of nursing home death data.”

Cuomo’s numbers had already been gradually declining from the stratospheric highs they hit last spring. He’s now back around where he was before the pandemic; he polled at 44-50 favorable in a Siena poll in February 2020.

But as the governor fights back rapidly-spreading calls for him to leave office, it’s safe to assume that the numbers which will resonate the most are those finding that most voters aren’t ready for him to go.

A total of 57 percent of respondents say they’re “satisfied with the way Cuomo has addressed the allegations,” while 32 percent say they are “not satisfied.”

Not going to matter if the legislature wants him out and it would be extreme arrogance to refuse calls to leave from the President. The report is going to be very damaging to him.

I'm surprised no halfway credible challenger to Blue Trump has declared a candidacy as of yet? Perhaps it's too early or they're just waiting out whether he'll still get forced out through impeachment or pressure not to run again?

That said, I still think Cuomo will be in office beyond Dec. 31, 2022, unless the investigations conclude with bombshells before the primary election is being held (yup, this will be the election, no GOPer has a chance). It's sad the dude may get away with everything, let alone we Dems not living up to our own standards.

It's still early and back in 2018, Cynthia Nixon didn't declare her candidacy until well into the election year. New York holds its statewide primary not until September.

Anyway, let's hope Cuomo is out sooner rather than later.

All primaires are now held in June in New York. The separate state primaries were done away with in 2019.

I very much doubt he’s going to resign. His response denied the allegations and called one of his accusers a liar.

Why won't Hillary want to run? She is bored, she could make history as the first female governor
Kathy Hochul would be the first female governor if Cuomo resigns or is impeached.

It's Happening.

goodbye Cuomo. The only question now is does he go out like Nixon or face the embarrassment of conviction like Blagojevich

I’ve heard Cuomo may resign tomorrow. At this point it’s more interesting who Kathy Hochul will appoint as Lt. Governor.

From where? As much as I’d like that to happen I very doubt it will.

A county dem chairman, who says he’s hearing this from his counterparts. Of course though I wouldn’t be surprised if he held out longer, but his days are numbered for sure.

I still doubt he resigns. The legislature is going to have to impeach him.

Ehh you could be right. I just think he’ll resign before he gets impeached.

I can't see him stepping aside. His ego is way too big.

If Cuomo resigned and still runs, it would be hilarious. Tbh, I wouldn't be completely surprised then.

I doubt he'd get much support.

I don;'t think Hillary will run. the 2022 election will be Hochul's to lose. I can't imagine the state party wants the state's first female governor to be a caretaker.

I don't think Hochul can win a Democratic primary.

She like Gillibrand was a moderate upstate Democrat, she is a white woman, The Black base of the Democratic Party will want James or Williams or Sharpton....

Unless Hochul really screws up, I don't really see anyone trying to oust the state's first female gov after only a year.

I think she will have problems with Black voters, white cops/firefighters, etc. Likely D. Zeldin can make it a race now, because he will have EVERY police and fire union on his side

I think she will win by a decent margin. She has a year and a half to introduce herself to voters.

Likely D.

I don't think Hochul will be well-received by the Charles Barrons and Al Sharptons of the world. She will need to pick a Black or Latino running mate and not a woman, a man.

She has several months to introduce herself to voters and its probable that will be who she picks.

Im wondering if Cuomo might have announced his resignation to take the pressure off and stop impeachment only to rescind it later.

If he did that I would expect the legislature would impeach him anyway as it would only anger them further.

How do you see a Hochul vs Leticia James primary shaping up?

James steamrolls Hochul

I don't think James is going to run.

Apparently ny assembly wont impeach leaving Cuomo optikn to run again. Can cuomo win in a primary against Hochul?

Absolutely not. There is no way he'd raise any money or gain any traction. Cuomo is a pariah at this point.

Im hearing Cuomo hasn't submitted a formal resignation letter and could possibly rescind his resignation? Is there any merit to this?

Since Cuomo's resignation takes effect at midnight on Tuesday Hochul will immediately get the first real test of her leadership skills.

You mean because of the Hurricane? I heard Cuomo has just declared a state of emergency?

I hope she doesn't run. Hochul deserves a chance. I think the party is going to rally behind her and James will run next time around.

Zeldin probably should step aside for his own well being, he's not going to win a November election anyway. And never was, even with Cuomo.

I'm not sure James is actually going to run. What would be her argument to replace Hochul? Ideological differences or a scandal would be compelling arguments, but otherwise, I don't see the Democrats abandon the first female chief executive. She'll certainly have Hillary Clinton and Gillibrand supporting her, and Brian Benjamin's appointment was a smart move to gain support in black community in New York. Also, Hochul outraised James even before taking office and was ahead in the most recent poll from before her swearing in.

I hope Queen Kathy can run unopposed for the Democrats.

Hochul won't be unopposed. If James does;t think party leaders or major donors will get behind its unlikely she runs.

There is no next time around for James.  Both she and Hochul are the same age, and there are no term limits in New York.  As long as Hochul serves in even a semi-competent fashion, she's going to be governor until she decides to retire, in 2034 at the earliest.  Both she and James will be 76 that year.  Let's face it--the only opportunity James will have for career advancement will be as a cabinet member in Biden's or Harris's administration.
If the party gets behind Hochul I can't see James launching a primary.

Hochul is seen as a Blue Dog Democrat, James and DiNapoli are seen as more progressive, DiNapoli, especially for a Long Islander. Before he was appointed as controller in 2007 he was a long time Assemblyman from Thomaston, LI in the North Shore section of Nassau County...

Joy Reid calls her Fast and Furious Kathy because she voted in Congress to censure Eric Holder and she accepted money from the NRA....

She is from upstate NY, they hunt up there, what do you expect?

I think James, Biaggi, DiNapoli and Bellone will choose to run by now and November, running in NY is expensive...

And don't count out Cuomo, Spitzer and Weiner, all three are egotistical to think of running again, especially Cuomo. The NY Legislature should have barred him from running again for state office....

No way Cuomo runs again. He filed to take his pension with the Comptroller. He'd never win a statewide primary now.

Every time I check Cuomo's twitter, there's always a bunch of middle aged (mostly white) women in the replies who worship him and think his removal from office was some kind of ploy to get Trump pardoned  Unamused

twitter is not representative. No way he wins a statewide primary at this point.
