Hillary Clinton campaign staffer teases idea of Gubernatorial campaign.

I mean, maybe? Genius political move by the NY Democratic Party if they could recruit her to be the savior of the office. Puts any AOC/Teachout/Nixon hopes dead on arrival as well. Party might even cancel the primary in that case.

Hillary would win the general, but she'd lose the primary.

The base hates her more than Cuomo.

What planet are you living on? The Dem base likes Hillary.

The Dem base is almost all Sanders supporters and believes Hillary should have dropped out in his favor in 2016.

Worked out really well in OH-11.

And in, y'know, last year's presidential primary that Bernie definitely won because the base is almost all supporters of his.

NewYorkExpress is plain wrong. The Dem base is not even remotely Sanders supporters. If anything the base is center-left libs, black voters, non-haredim jews etc. Not self-identified socialists.

Again... yall just get on here and say things with little regard to accuracy or respecting reality.

This isn't the first and won't be the last time NYE has said something wildly inaccurate and bizarre that he clearly just pulled out of his ass. It's honestly getting to the point where I wonder if all of his predictions and analyses are just some elaborate troll act. They're just so stunningly, consistently wrong and way out there.

Anyway, anyone who knows me knows that if Hillary does run, she has my auto-endorsement. I will be pretty surprised if she does however. Pleasantly surprised, but surprised. But not TOO surprised, as I can imagine a scenario where Hillary is bored with retirement and doesn't want her legacy to end on a failed presidential run against Donald Trump. Becoming the first (elected, at least) female Governor of New York is of course not the same as becoming the first female president, but it's a bit happier an ending to her story that could redeem her somewhat depending on how it goes.

Interesting quote from the article linked in that tweet:

Quote from: The Buffalo News article linked in that tweet
"She's done very well with raising money and I've helped her raise money," said Erie County Democratic Chairman Jeremy Zellner. "She's not been shy about saying she's running for reelection next year one way or another and gearing up or it."

She clearly doesn't intend on being Paterson'd, at least without a primary fight anyway.

Well he's still got some supporters left, that's for sure.

These are probably the same people who reply with some "bUt mUh TrUmP" BS when you tweet about Cuomo's stuff.

He probably has more support than this indicates (social desirability bias on the left/centre would prevent most people who privately agree with him from saying so). But I think this does show his odds of winning a primary, even if he’s allowed to compete, are very low.

Cuomo is such a blatant democratic answer to Trump that if this was fiction I'd call it lazy writing. Both are blatantly narcissistic and sociopathic sex pests, but above all else, renarkably stupid people. Their political programs are built on the same foundation - make life worse for everyone to own the other side. As such, it shouldn't be shocking that they both cultivated cult like and conspiritorial followings among the dumbest members of society. Thankfully the Democratic base seems by and large more resistant to this sort of inanity, and so you don't get anything on the scale of the MAGA cult, but the GOP (not for a lack of trying) doesn't have a monopoly on idiocy, and so you'll get people like this protesting to let Fredo keep grabbing staffers and killing the elderly because they're worried if he doesn't Republicans will magically install a puppet regime in New York, pardon Trump, and end life as we know it.

The only difference is that the Democrats run Cuomo out of town, with all major elected officials in Washington and Albany as well neighboring governors calling for his resignation. The Democratic-controlled legislature will absolutely impeach and remove him if he continues to refuse. Republicans with few noble exceptions like Mitt Romney have always turned a blind eye on Trump's corruption and utter dishonesty. Instead they have stonewalled all investigations and discredited Romney and alike as traitors. Both parties aren't the same.

Early D primary polls

Everyone’s name rec seems low as hell but nothing which really changes my view that James should be viewed as the favorite.

Although Hochul's are obviously gonna go up a good amount once she's become the 57th Governor of New York.

The fact that Gillibrand and Stringer are included and Cuomo has positive favorables proves this is junk.

I don't think Hochul can win a Democratic primary.

She like Gillibrand was a moderate upstate Democrat, she is a white woman, The Black base of the Democratic Party will want James or Williams or Sharpton....

Unless Hochul really screws up, I don't really see anyone trying to oust the state's first female gov after only a year.

I think she will have problems with Black voters, white cops/firefighters, etc. Likely D. Zeldin can make it a race now, because he will have EVERY police and fire union on his side

So, is Hochul the first female Governor of New York?

Yeah. As far as I can see, no woman have been nominated (by the major parties) for Governor, let alone won the seat.
