I would vote for de Leon if I lived in CA, I think the Democratic Party needs some younger and more progressive voices.

That being said, I wouldn't care too much if Feinstein wins reelection (and in reality she almost certainly will), she's still a reliable vote for the Democratic agenda most of the time.

So while I would vote for de Leon in the Senate primary, I do think the better option for him realistically would have been to run for Lieutenant Governor. He had already raised money for the race and considered it for awhile. If he had won the race for Lt Gov (which is way more likely than winning this senate race), he would be next in line for the Governorship when the incumbent (likely Gavin Newsom) faces term limits 8 years from now.
